The brakes are truly amazing especially when you compare them to my old 2013 mustang GT. I pulled a 1.06 G in braking on damp roads. I'm sure you could brake much harder on warm dry roads.

It's more to do with the supply and demand. Most dealers have a waiting list of people to buy them--many with substantial ADMs. tge no test drive isn't because of the performance of the car. I've test drove my M3 several times before buying it. Dealer even dropped it off at my house for me to have for a day and a half. That was an $80K car and had comparable (especially compared to what was on the market at the time) performance. I've test driven 911s, a C63 AMG, and a few Z06s. It really just depends on how confident the dealer is that they can sell the car with/without a test drive. Either way, I'm like you, ordered this one without a test drive and am hoping it lives up to the hype.

I know that most know this, but modulating and track are pretty much mutually exclusive at this point in time on a car with ABS. On track your initial brake effort is at a 10 and if you go beyond there is no need to back off as ABS saves you and is better than most anyone I know. In a non-abs car you would modulate once you had a wheel lockup.

In modern cars and the 350 your initial pedal pressure goes from 7 - 9 - 10(in hundredths of seconds) and then stays at 10 and then(depending) you trail brake into the corner. If you want I guess you could refer to the initial pressure and trail braking as modulation, but it would be an incorrect usage... Or perhaps I over geeked the thread. Ha! As you were..

The brakes on this car are amazing....I can't wait to see how they feel once on the track with hot tires.
The only thing I don't like about them so far is the dust!! These wheels are tough for me to clean and I'm looking forward to getting my R-type 6GR wheels from N4Speed.

I don't have my car yet. But when I went to Sebring, I had to temper my expectations.
I read everything and thought this car is amazing. the car exceeded my expectations.
Even with all the hype, but one thing that truly blew my mind was the brakes.
on 2 corners I had to let off the brakes as they had stopped that fast.
They were smooth and consistent. Easy to get use to, I did it in 4 laps :)
When the instructor did his hot laps, I noticed how late and hard he was braking,
incredible stopping power, another thing was how stable the car was under hard braking.
Sebring is rough, made no difference. I have never driven a street car with brakes this good. I can't wait.

I just picked up my 2016 GT350 last week.
(Like you) was wondering if the braking would be smooth.
I knew with the Huge Brembo calipers and large 2 piece rotors they would be adequate for any type of racing.
Had to travel 160 miles to an outside dealer in FL to get my 350.
I basically bought it when it was being backed off the delivery truck.
It's just a Base (No options), But believe me it is something special.
You will no doubt be totally happy with the braking smoothness.
I'm including a couple of pictures of the rear brake assy.
(I was checking to see if the Ford Spare tire for the '15 GT mustang would fit.)
No Way !

Performance notwithstanding, they are works of art.

Wow! So much response to explain why dealers won't always allow test drives before buying. Thanks to everyone who chimed in, too many to name individually at this point.

I see where y'all are coming from now. It makes sense from the dealer perspective not to allow test drives when most seriously interested potential owners are gonna want the car with minimum mileage off the lot.

I guess I'm just gonna have to wrap my head around not test driving first. That idea just feels so weird right now, almost like I'm doing something wrong, ha.

I get it. Yes it is a big leap of faith - especially it was for those of us who committed to buy 10 months ago or more.

That's exactly what it is for me -- a leap of faith. Like, a fifty thousand dollar leap of faith, LOL. Part of me keeps hearing my old man in the back of my head telling me how stupid it is to buy a car without test driving it first. I know this is different, because I don't envision the test drive making me want it any less, but still...

New year, new adventure!

I don't feel you can get a good feel for all the car can do in a short couple mile test drive anyway. Seriously, I still feel like my brain is adjusting after 250 miles in it. It's now starting to sink in, and it's good. Very, very good.

No need for test drive for brakes. Have 750 miles on my car.

No need.

Period.
