Brake pedal getting soft

So as the title states, my brake pedal gets soft when I am sitting at a red light and have my foot on the brake. I can take my foot off the pedal and depress it again and regain it's firmness. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? My car is a 2015 GT with 45k on it BTW.

When is the last time you had your brake fluid serviced?

I bought the car used and haven't personally done a flush yet. It is on my list of things to do. I guess that's a pretty good place to start.

Yeah I'd give the brake fluid a complete flush and see where that leaves you. A little movement while stopped with pressure on it is ok, IIRC. If it feels squishy in general, definitely flush the old fluid.

I have the same issue, I just purchased the car used as my daily driver. Around 47k miles.

Fluid almost certainly needs to be changed if it's original, but also remember that the vacuum booster is always replenishing at a light and you'll never have a rock hard brake pedal when standing still with the engine running.
