Sooo the gt500's or hellcats that have much more than 600hp are useless to drive every day? You sir have spent to much time in the paint booth with no ventilator
I just sold my 14 gt500 last week, it had about 850whp and still was easy to use on the street. The most powerful car I DD for an entire summer had almost 1300rwhp. I had no issues using it. It saw 140mph+ daily. Well unless it rained. :D

I normally don't DD my weekend warriors. Not that I cant or havent but it cuts down on wear and tear on a purpose built car. It can sometimes get pricey. Especially if its a motor that will need rebuilds every 15-20k or so. The power isn't too much though, for me its more long term maintenance costs. Plus im not a fan of driving them in the rain, only for the fact it drastically increases undercarriage rust. Once I order my s550 in decemeber ill start building that with 1000+rwhp in mind.

So I spoke to a local guy around here that has a 2012 GT with the Ford Racing Cobra Jet cams that I shared in the link I posted a couple of pages ago. Just a reminder, the 2015 GT shares the same intake cam specs as the CJ cam and same exact cam lift with 27* of less duration on the GT cam compared to the CJ exhaust cam. Keep in mind the 2015 GT has better flowing heads and 3mm larger valves than the 11-14 GT. With an intake, CJ manifold, CJ cams, Long tubes, and 3" exhaust tuned on E85 made 501whp and 485whp on 93 octane. With a boss manifold, intake, stock exhaust manifolds with x pipe cat delete and x pipe tuned, he ran 11.48 at 120 on slicks. He hasn't ran it at the current setup making 501whp. But with the 3.73 rear end, he keeps up with 650whp supercharged mustangs to the top of 4th gear. Looks like the gearing and less weight of his n/a car over the supercharged car makes it quite fast. Tell me swapping the manifold isn't worth it...

Sorry if this is a dumb question but if i installed a boss or cj manifold, do u think lund would be able to update my tune accordingly or would i have to go get it custom dyno tuned?

I believe its only when FI or E85 comes into play do you get charged. I would think he'd adjust without charging. Best way to find out is contact him. Since the new manifold is a pita it might require a fee

Lund will tune you with a manifold for free. I can't believe E85 is considered a "premium tune" and costs another hundy.

You may want to check with him. Because for a while I know he was not tuning the CJ momo blade throttle body. So there may be a small fee for a update with a CJ intake. AED charged me a small fee to update my tunes for the CJ set up as well.

I think the issue with all this horsepower wars going on, is that we are at the limit for tire technology that can harness this power. A Hellcat with its street rubber isn't that much quicker than a M4 which has 200+less horsepower. Yes it weighs 500lbs less but its down 200+hp and yet it put down pretty similar numbers up through the 1/4mile. Yes once moving the Hellcat puts a world of hurt on the M4 but its getting tough for that heavy car to put down the power with the OEM tires.

Sorry...it does as people were discussing that 600hp cars are not relevant anymore or needed...but now that I think about it you are right...:D

I said the miles as in DD miles. I leave for work at 4am. I would rather put a 1000 pointless miles a month on a beater. Not rack up miles on car I sunk a lot of money into. This is why there are still low mileage cobras and GT500s. Weekend warriors. I never said you cannot dd a 800hp but if you can you can afford another daily. That was my point.

I just got the jlt in Friday. I am out of town (again) until Monday. With luck I will get it together this week. I have another trip from 14-22 so if not this week, then the one after I get back for sure.
