First off, glad to be part of the group. Ive enjoyed reading the variety of posts and varying opinions on mods for the S550.

Just ordered the Borla S Axleback with the MRT H-Pipe from CJPP. They had a solid deal on one with black tips and Im expecting delivery next week. I decided on AB so I can use an H over the X pipe since I prefer deeper tone than raspy on a Mustang.

That being said, Im thinking I may just start off with just the AB and install the H pipe later. Concern is that it will be too loud, and installing the H-Pipe later may give me something to look forward to once I get used to the new exhaust.
Will definitely post a vid on the sound once its installed (I havent seen any to date with just AB but Im new...)

Looking forward to getting this bad boy installed, always loved the Borla sound growing up on the older Mustangs and this 2015 version needs a kick.

Borlas with an h-pipe is perfection IMO. Nothing else on the market comes close. I don't think it will be too loud with just the axle back to start as you will still have the resonator. Even once you install the h-pipe you will still have the factory cats keeping volume down somewhat. I have that setup plus longtube headers on my 2011 and it sets off car alarms!! Hahaha!! I absolutely love it. :)

Hey yeah I'll be following this thread too. Exactly what I am thinking of doing. I already have the MRT H-Pipe installed and I would like to hear more exhaust note for sure. Plus I yanked the sound tube ...wanting to hear the exhaust and not the piped in sound.
I'm hoping the Borla S type will not be too loud with the MRT H-Pipe...so keep us posted on what you think.

I currently have the Roush Axleback + MRT h-pipe and it sounds beastly. I've been waiting to hear someone pair up either the s-type or the ATAK with an h-pipe. There's a good chance it'll be my next setup.

I think s type with the H will sound perfect. Wish they offered it from Borla instead of just an x pipe.

If you call them and ask for a system with an h-pipe they will probably custom make you one. That's what they did for a few S197 owners.

Would you happen to know how much of a premium Borla charged for this?

I just wrote an email to Borla asking how much it would be to swap an X for a H. I'll post their response when I get it.

This is the response from Borla, not what I wanted to hear.

"Thank you for your interest in our exhaust! Unfortunately it would not be possible to change out the x-pipe include in the Cat-Back system for your car. This system was tuned and tested with the x-pipe, we would need to test the system with an h-pipe as well to confirm sound quality but our experience has lead us to prefer an x-pipe in most cases. Also, these systems are made in specific fixtures to guarantee they will bolt directly onto your car."

If someone wanted to be the guinea pig and swap the x for an h on their catback, that would be the only way to see if it is possible.

We should ask american muscle or the guy from CJ pont parts. I know the guy from CJ pony parts runs the s-type on his personal car so I'm sure he could easily test an h pipe with the amount of parts he has floating around his shop lol.

I just took delivery from UPS a few minutes ago so hopefully I can get it installed by tomorrow and have some clips to post shortly after.

Anybody could just install Borla axlebacks with an h-pipe resonator delete to accomplish the same thing. Probably cheaper too.
