That's some bad luck, did they use a decibel meter?? I have had extremely loud exhaust on both my mustangs and have never been pulled over, we don't care to much in Florida. I am a LEO and I have never pulled over anyone for loud exhaust. However, it's probably not the best idea to accelerate past a police officer with such a loud exhaust.
Just a couple weeks ago when i still had the the obnoxiously loud FRPP Sport and SW LTs I was leaving a car meet in Winter Springs and accelerated pretty good through 1st and 2nd, never really speeding though. A local cop jumped right behind me and I thought I was screwed, tint, noise, something.... As we got the the light, he pulled up beside me and motioned me to roll down the window and says "Man that thing sounds great!" When I told him I thought for sure he was going to pull me over, he said "not a chance, but watch up ahead since we have a radar trap setup". #becausemustang

VA is downright nasty when it comes to modded cars, from my experience. Years ago when I lived in northern Va, a good friend of mine drove a heavily modified e36 M3. One day he was parked by a 7eleven close to his house when a cop pulled up and proceeded to issue him an absurd number of tickets (I think it was around 6 but can't recall), including one for noise violation and another for reckless driving. All this while the car was shut off.

Needless to say, I try to be extra conservative whenever I drive by a cop down here.
Exactly right, don't give them a reason and it's usually never a problem.
The noise citations are interesting, many if not most are tossed if they go to court. Unless the LEO measures the offending Db levels and documents that it exceeded state or original factory exhaust noise limits then there is no presentable proof of an infraction.
This is probably why your friend was given so many tickets, the cop knew only some would hold up in court.

OP question for ya..

How's the tone/volume from 2k to 3k rpms? Most of my driving will be between those ranges....
I get that it cruises like stock and WOT like race car...but does it have the rumble within normal operating rpms?

Got pulled over.. Twice today.. Two exhaust tickets.. One bitchy lady called a cop on me for accelerating through a parking garage once. The other was passing a cop.

I bet that stopped all the giggling pretty damn quick.

Well, 3k is when the exhaust starts to make some noise. Before that it's quiet. So I would say you're going to be at the quiet stage and 3k-3.5k with throttle is when it starts to 'spool up' the sound :D

So the SW exhaust has a deep rumble just accelerating lightly is this similar to that or is it more like stock?

Doesn't change the fact that he was being obnoxious in a parking garage with it. Also doesn't matter if it says Street legal.... It depends on the state. In Florida any modification to the exhaust / mufflers is illegal

The Ford Racing Borla Catback Touring is listed as 50 State Legal, while the Sport is listed as 49 State Legal. They must mean noise, as they shouldn't alter the flow enough to effect emissions through the Cat.

Ford is on the hook for any tickets!

That is for emissions laws not sound. No manufacturer guarantees noise within any legal limits. Noise ordinances are set by cities/townships/counties, not state by state. One are in the same state your exhaust may be legal and the next over it is not.

I enjoyed listening to that tunnel video. The laughing was almost as entertaining as the car! Love the loud exhaust but I couldn't live with it from day to day. I'd love to drive that for an hour or two.

Obnoxious? Go cry about it. One pull in a parking garage to hear the new exhaust roar is awesome. Do you even like cars?

Its immature especially when their are other people/cars around and it's not safe. I won't argue with you. You are young kid who has a lot of learning and growing up to do. Have fun receiving your tickets, hopefully it puts an end to your reckless driving (that I am sure you do a lot of off videotape) before you kill someone. Your lack of respect in your post coming off confrontational is enough to show your immaturity.

Its too bad because the mustang is an immature car that I love doing immature things with, now reckless driving really depends on how confident you are with the car and what can you expect from your steering inputs as well as the position of all cars with multiple assumptions of direction each second, you have to always be in control but seriously this is a muscle car the louder the better (says the person with a factory exhaust).
