Hardest thing is cutting the shift boot...or at least for me. I was afraid of cutting too short and I think I came close haha

Yeah I thought I was going to do the same. I was a little conservative on my first cut. Ended up trimming off some more. And honestly still plenty left on there for the length its if you cut it too short the diameter of the opening being too big would make it bunch up and look sloppy when zip tied.

side note: Did anybodies kit come with a zip tie for the shift boot leather though? Mine didn't. Not a big deal as I always have some in the garage, I just wish I had one like Ford uses for the rubber boot insulator. That style is more sleek leaving the trimmed piece in line with the zip tie instead of protruding. I ended up redoing mine and moving it facing the back stitching as it was less noticeable and didn't want it to wear through the thinner leather on the side.

Bottom style is better suited for the install.

If you don't have that style and only have the standard style put it where the circle is not on the X or the opposite side. Bc I put it there first and feel the leather is too thin there and can be noticed under the leather.

I couldn't find my zip ties, so I've yet to do that part...I'll look for some inline ones. Thanks for the heads up.

No problem, I may redo mine next time I'm at the store and can find some inline zip ties.

Finally drove it today since the install. I'm so happy I jumped on the group buy!!! It is perfect for what I wanted! I wish they had one for my 13 when I had it. Let me tell you who this setup is perfect for:

1. Hate the stock shifter height?

This takes care of that and is the perfect height and makes driving more comfortable. Especially when paired with their shift knob.

2. Want a shorter throw but don't care to be bothered with a full shifter assembly replacement?

Here you go! Install couldn't be designed to be any easier, and 25% shorter throws.

3. Wanting to add that little something extra to the interior for looks?

The quality design and look of the shifter and knob is fantastic. If you could care less about anything else do it for the looks! This is how it should look stock.

Side note: for any previous 11-14 s197 owners out there now with a 15 like myself. I hated the stock MT82 shifter assembly on my 13. I don't drag race or road race. Just spirited driving outings on the curvey back roads of central VA. The shifter always felt sloppy on my 13. I started with a Barton shifter bracket then added the Whiteline trans bushing insert. That improved greatly but also added NVH. Now I was pleasantly surprised how much better the shifter feel improved with the s550. I have no desire to add either of the parts I had on my 13. The Boomba short shifter and knob gave me everything I needed in my shifter assembly. So if you are like me at all jump on this before buying anything else and drive it. I think you'll be very happy. Of course this is all IMO. But this is the best way to find out if this right for you. If you track your car at the strip or road course, chances are you have different needs that have to be met, and I can't speak to those.

Cheers to Boomba for a great affordable product!

Does this shifter require the adapter for other shift knobs or does it eliminate the need for it? I'd like the ability to run different knobs w/o the added height of the adapter.

It's threaded same as stock. You can run stock, boomba or any other knob that will support same thread and reverse lock out. If you have to use a jam nut to center a shift pattern or design it will raise the knob and may create a gap between the shifter and knob. I highly recommend getting the boomba knob. It really looks the best with the shifter. And feels great too

This is going on my for sure order parts list.
My list was supposed to be short....under 5 items.
But I should know myself well enough to know that never happens.
At 9 things already and counting.
Next is to research Nitrous systems and see what to get there.
May as well go all in and have everything ready for when work slow down and i put the car in the shop and start modding it.

^^ exactly this! Our shifter uses the exact same thread pitch as stock to allow you to use our knob, a stock knob, or any other knob that would have worked on your vehicle.
