YES still less cash

Boomba shifter $148 (group buy)
Amsoil $41 for 3 quarts @ 13.65
Blowfish bracket $250
Total cost= $439

Boomba @ 175 without group buy total $466

MGW $500 after shipping
Amsoil $41
Total= $541

Barton $450
Amsoil $41
Total= $491
Even with the blowfish bracket, you cannot compare this shift lever to the mgw and barton shifters; they are not equivalent.

Which is fine, Boomba is a great option for some people and at a much lower price.

And as noted, if you use the 5% forum discount on the mgw, price is very close to the same - especially if one does not get in on the boomba group buy.

And if buying a shift knob at the same time, the mgw shift knobs are a fair bit cheaper than the boomba ones and that brings the prices even closer.

The Boomba shifter is a cost efficient alternative which features easy installation and performance benefits over stock. People who choose to go the route of the Boomba SSK have the option to compliment the kit with a support bracket, but it is not required.

I have been testing this kit for about a week now in my GT PP and I am more than satisfied with it's performance. It would be difficult for me to justify spending an additional $3-400 on a full assembly replacement unit.

With that said, if anyone has a MGW or Barton assembly installed and would like to meet up for a comparison in the Chicagoland area, hit me up as I would be very interested myself!

An additional $500 (before forum discount) for shipped mgw in your case. :headbang:

I hesitate on this because for me the stock shifter is fine 98% of the time. That said, I have no doubt the boomba shifter would make shifting more enjoyable, but, honestly, what concerns me is the 2% of the time when I get a bit of a crunch going into third or it just sticks a bit going into 3rd.

I have every confidence this would be addressed with the mgw. I don't think the boomba alone would address this.

Did you experience any 3rd gear 'issues' before the boomba? If so, after?

If you're hesitant, wait a while until more people have purchased it. Right now you have one beta tester and Boomba to base reviews off of. No offense, but he's not going to say it sucks because he got a free shifter (or heavily discounted). Wait until some folks who don't have the placebo effect can get some seat time with it.

Ya, I likely will.

It is just that I am in Canada. So that means I get hit with basically a +30% premium due to exchange these days. A seemingly inexpensive items can become expensive (for what it is) fast. A 20% group buy discount helps a fair bit in keeping the price sane.

I didn't/don't have any issue with gear changes with my trans. I feel it's the ideal type of notchy and stiffness. ***KNOCK ON WOOD***

Yes, if people are hesitant, it's best to hold off until you see some more reviews from other consumers. I can tell you that the kit installed on my GT was a final production version so all of you will be running the exact same design as mine.

While I agree that I wouldn't speak negatively about Boomba on a public forum, I would voice any opinions and concerns directly to them and I have none to give. :clap2:

As with any product, there will always be people with different opinions that may not necessarily be related to its performance. For example, some people may find it's too short while others, like me, who find it to be very ergonomic. It's all a matter of preference. All I can do is provide information about how it functions in different driving situations.

The bottom line here is that dollar for dollar, this is the superior product. Who's the better performer? I wouldn't be able to answer that without experiencing all the competitor products, but I feel it would be a very tough decision! :cheers:

Thanks but Never once compared the durability of a whole new linkage and shift setup of mgw and barton to boomba shifter and blowfish. Boomba will reduce the shift distance a good amount which will result in quicker shifts something boomba , mgw and barton has in common at a cheaper amount. Will hold up and shift strong too once the blowfish bracket is in, people dont do their research like they tell me i dont do mine. First telling me it cost way more and then saying im comparing a whole shift setup to a shift handle , its actually the throw distance i was comparing. Still going to be a quality setup no matter how you look at it.

So if I were to take your stock shifter and cut it 1.5" and rethread it, would you pay me $150? Thats pretty much what this is. I love the look of it paired with the Boomba Knob. Looks killer and i'm sure the shortness of it makes it feel better, but the issues I have with the Stock shifter will still be there.

I have yet to feel what the Blowfish bracket feels like. Maybe if I can see what that feels like and it resolves all my issues with the stock shifter, then I could pull the trigger on this. I like the idea of slowly upgrading. Until then I'll wait and save up for the Barton Shifter.

To me it hardly seems worth going the boomba route if you are going to add the bracket as well.

Even with the 20% off on the boomba, for $66 more you can be in a mgw shipped. Definitely not worth it if you don't get in on the group buy.

Then if you add their $62 shift knob to complete the 'look', it is only a $41 dollar difference vs. if you go with the mgw and one of their $35 knobs.

Blowfish bracket makes a good difference , ask anyone who has installed one. Any of the issues with the stock shifter greatly reduce starting with an amsoil fluid change for notchyness reduction and the bracket keeps the linkage and shifter aligned so it feels like your shifting without any linkage at all. Kind of like a tremec but of course we cant compare to a tremec. Shifts feel just overall more accurate and firmer, A friend of mine has the blowfish bracket and it was a lot different in a good way when i drove it. My cousin just installed a MGW in his 2015 and ill be trying it out and i will have him drive my car after the blowfish and the boomba short stick are installed.

Dont matter, not buying a knob already have a custom one that threads right on from the week i bought the car. Any modification to any shifter especially when you shorten distance between throws will help for quicker shifts. To each their own
