My 19 has 1200 miles and has gone through two batteries before I did the reset. Now I will see how long this battery last compared to my last two in which I Did Not do the Reset.
I must be very lucky as mine is oem and going on 7 yrs old:sunglasses:✌

My 2017 is a late 2016 build and it still has the original battery in it and still going strong. Kinda incredible when I think about it; I've never had any battery in any vehicle last nearly this long.

Does anyone know where the battery sensor is on the Mustangs? On the start/stop vehicles like the newer F150's there is a sensor on the battery cable itself, but I don't see one on the car. I was wondering because I don't drive it that much anymore and want to charge it while parked. I guess I could just connect to the alternator lead.

Also, there is an option in Forscan to change the CCW of the battery and type for the BMS. I believe there was some options in there for AGM also.

NM, I found it. It is the older style induction sensor that is between the battery and the fuse box, right in front of the passenger strut tower. So the charger gets positive on the battery itself and negative on a good body ground or engine. The ground right on the strut tower seems to work fine.

What is the reason for doing this? You can't just replace the battery and go?
What about if you have unhooked a cablr for seriving/mod's?

One of the factors used by the BMS to determine its charging strategy is "days in service". It treats the battery differently as it ages, so letting it know when the battery is new makes a difference (or so they say). The reset is only meant to be done when a new battery is installed, not when the battery has been disconnected for any reason.

After replacing my battery (with an AGM), I've been trying to avoid paying the dealer for a BMS reset, and I don't have Forscan or even a computer. I found the following on an F150 forum. Tried it on my '20 GT and it seems to work.

Procedure must be carried out within 10 seconds:
  1. Switch ignition on (engine off)
  2. Pull and release high beam 5 times.
  3. Press and release brake pedal 3 times.
  4. If successful the battery light will flash 3 times within the next 15 seconds
  5. BMS reset completed.
I'm not any kind of expert, but my battery icon flashed three times after performing these steps, so the procedure appears to work. YMMV

UPDATE: 3/3/2022
Confirmed with Forscan. This procedure resets the "days in service" to 0.
Thank you for your effort to post all of this. There is one more step that should be noted (at least for my 50 YLE). The hood needs to be latched closed. I tried the procedure many times and could not get the battery light to blink. Today it donned on me that the car senses when the hood is open, so I closed the hood, tried again, and voila! Maybe most of you already knew this, but maybe this is why a few of you could not get this to work in your cars.
