California specials get the same tail light accent as the black appearance package, just not the badges or wheels

The chrome trim around the tail lights is only on the 50th Anniversary Edition and 50th Appearance Package.

They are not tinted. Ford cannot tint their rear or front lights without that being approved by this and other country's regulatory bodies, and do you think they're going to pay for that?

Euro cars have different lighting either way so thats a moot point when it comes to US spec cars, but ford has done factory tinting in the past as the government has a DOT spec in place for how tinted a tail light can be. I'm not saying they've done it on the S550, but they have done it in the past.

Anyone find out if you can order the black trim kit separately for the tail lights? I would suspect that you could go to the dealer parts Dept and they could look it up.

The only way to get the darker taillights is to get the black appearance package. The tails that come in this kit are $3,000 alone if you buy them separately.
