I always wondered my tails looked like they're darker than others I've seen but I just chalked it up to the color playing tricks on me. Now that I've see the two side by side the blackout tail lights are more pronounced and appear to have more visual depth due to the black under the lens.

"Level 4" being the black appearance package tails
Great - thanks for that info!!

That listing also shows that the Level 4's start with "GR3Z" as opposed to FR3Z for the Ford part number references. The only way for folks to know what they really have is, the tail assembly has to be removed and the Ford part number is found in the back of the housing (molded in) and also on a white label with Ford part # and either a bar code (early S550's) or a QR code (later 2016+).

Here's what folks need to look for (the pics are of my RH/passenger side tail light assembly) to determine which assembly's they have on their vehicle.

The white label on the BACK of the assembly is supposed to define the actual Ford part number for that complete assembly.

Now the other Ford part numbers embossed into the black ABS housing designate the other assemblies, as the housing is universal to all S550's, so the mold that stamps these all out contains all of the Ford part numbers, regardless of model S550.

Did Ford change the part numbers, as I do not see any "FR3Z", everything I'm seeing is showing as "FR3B"...??

I know this is a bit of an old thread, but came across it searching for something unrelated.

So i thought i'd share my recent mod in case someone else goes searching. I wanted to subdue the red but retain some. And it turned out looking similar to the black accent package tails. It's from anchor-room basically their black out kit with tint.

also a vid of them on the car before/after
