Belt on upside down ??

Hello gents ,

I recently purchased a 2019 gt with 13,xxx miles . Went to do my first oil change on the car today and was inspecting things while under the car and it appears that the belt that goes around the alternator,crankshaft, water pump etc. I guess what would be consider as a serpentine belt on the 5.0's.The ribs on the belt are facing up going around pulleys that have grooves, like it was installed wrong and riding on the smooth side of the belt . Going to order a new belt and install but wanted check and make sure first that it was in fact installed incorrectly . Thanks !

Can you post some pictures for clarification

Ignore me if this is incorrect, some pulleys (tensioners/idlers) are smooth and ride on the smooth side of the belt. Is that what you’re seeing here?

The belt would probably chew itself up if it was mounted incorrectly.

NP, it prompted me to look at mine though…..if you are seeing the ribs facing up anywhere then it most likely is improperly installed

It’s hard to tell from those pictures, but I have seen some “double sided” belts that have ribs on both sides.

The AC pump belt is correct. Looks like your main belt is indeed upside down.

Yeah that one belt certainly seems upside down unless they make a double sided belt but I’m not educated enough on that

I checked it on the other side and it is smooth . I ordered a new one and will replace it ! Kinda scary cause the car was a one owner and no disrespect but it was owned previously by a girl and all maintenance was performed at a ford dealership. Makes me wonder if it was installed like that at the factory cause the car is a 2019 and only has 13××× miles so it wasn't a daily driver everything else is stock besides some weld in mufflers

Thanks ! Yeah I couldn't pass up the deal on the car very low miles for being a 2019. Thanks for the pictures confirming. I ordered a new belt and will replace it once it comes in .

Is the belt routed correctly around the pulleys? Should be able to find a diagram in the owners manual.
