 This is the entire basis for everyone's argument! Do you think if Tesla had normal stores that could set their own prices anyone would buy a car from a factory store for more money? Unless I am mis-reading your post this is what you are implying?
What I'm saying is you mentioned CAPITALISM,

"an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state."

I'd like to know how states blocking the sales model that tesla wants to use, regardless of its effectiveness, is capitalism, because by definition it is the opposite.
And yes I do think people would pay more for a hassle free experience from a factory store, the same way people pay money to have their clothes dry cleaned instead of doing it themselves, people will pay more for convenience. Will everybody? Absolutely not, but a lot of folks would.

I'm obviously late to the party here but just how the GT500 in 2013 was all new and crazy people were paying crazy ADMs and all that hype soon dies off and they will start going under MSRP. Not saying they will be countless GT350s sitting on the lot everywhere but there will be some found for under MSRP for sure, just will be difficult if not impossible to find one at launch.

I personally dislike all Ford dealerships(that I have tried within a 200 mile radius) and their low quality service(almost white trash) so I would never buy a special edition Ford due to the fear of something going wrong and handing them the keys not knowing what happens after that (taking it to lunch, burnouts, any sort of abuse, etc)

Without those dealers (1% ers) you have no place to get warranty/recall work done, buy parts (OEM) or to check out the latest car that you want to see up close and personal...and I've never had a poor person offer me a job!

And this would have what to do with what I originally responded to?

Since it seems a good time to post this... I was clearly frustrated with my search so I sent ford performance a message on facebook...

After finding a dealer to commit to MSRP I was a lot less frustrated and came back to them...

Seriously can't blame some of the dealers I've talked to especially the smaller ones just getting 1 allocation. For me though, my footwork paid off otherwise I would have waited. "It's not personal, it's business"

Pretty sad that's Ford's response. Other Manufacturers have made attempts to curb the dealers.

Opportunistic like those retailers marking up goods in a disaster.

If I wanted to get a Dealers license the State I live in, I have to meet certain guidleines or laws on the books to do so. Where Tesla does not have a franchise agreement because it has company stores it violates law in some states. Out of the 50, only 6 actually do not allow the sale of them, they still have service centers in those states, you can still buy them if you live in those states etc...not really limiting peoples choices but if I was a business owner, say a Dunkin Donuts that had to pay a franchise fee to maintain all my permits/Lic. and Honey Dew came to my State and opened up factory stores that was not required to they could be seen as having an unfair advantage. Are the States protecting the dealers or just upholding laws on the books that have been inplace for a long time? If I got wind of Honey Dew coming to my State do you not think it would be in my best interest to make sure those laws had no loop holes that would cause me financial pain? All of you must just be employeed by Sole Proprietor's that only do business with other Sole Proprietor's. You must also just trade good and services and not use currency as well.

I refer only to your comment regarding 1%ers...not as a personal attack directed at you. I do know many upright and decent men who happen to be dealer principals -- they are not all as you describe with youur broad brush stroke

Please describe how I've "painted" them? As wealthy? I'm at a loss here.

1%'s is a pretty well known term in a current society. Don't use a buzz word if you do not want to have everything associated with it associated with your statement. i.e. the local car dealers are not running the world.....yet
