Hey Jimmy...it's been a few months.
When do you plan on arriving in San Diego? :D
Leaving Friday evening before Labor Day weekend; should get there Tuesday evening or Wednesday if I take some detours. Trying to limit myself to 700 miles a day, 750 tops. I've done as much as 1250 in a day before, but never consecutively. Most I've done in a day consecutively was NYC - Cihicago and back to pick up my mother who was too sick to fly back.

I drove from Fort Worth, TX to Jacksonville, FL two weekends ago. 1,050 miles in total. Averaged 24.0 mpg overall with the cruise set on 75 mph most of the time. Peaked at 26.8 on the east side of Dallas cruising around 65mph. I couldn't believe how comfortable the Recaros were over that period. Absolutely perfect in my opinion.

Nice.
I have found that the AT really spoiled me on my trip. After having driven manual for forever it was a nice change. :D
Me too...First auto for me in decades. I did flip a switch or two here and there to play with the paddle shifters when the roads got interesting.

I'm driving to Colorado from Eugene Oregon tomorrow morning. I'll probably log about 2600 miles in a week all told. I'm really looking forward to it.

About a year ago I did the trip back from Colorado in one go. 23 hours straight of driving. Never again, it was a really bad idea.

I've done NYC-Miami or Miami-NYC in one shot (22 hours) many times before... I'm usually useless the next day, sleep 18 straight hours.

ive got you all beat!!!! had my baby since Dec 12th last year, got a whooping 1762 miles on her. I drive 4.8 miles one way to work, hardly get out of 4th gear..... makes my cry thinking about it. seems like every damn time I have something planned to take a nice long drive with the old lady something comes up. longest drive I've had was run down the freeway one night when the old lady went to the casino. it was late on a weekend. I figured I could see how fast I could get her to go... scared me as I was approaching 145... only thing, she was smooth as though I was on rails... scray fast.

That sounds like a party on wheels. Hope you had a useful passenger to keep you up.

I'm at 1717 miles now and I put her up for the next two weeks in my parents barn. Lol. I picked up 12/17. The best thing I have done is I drove it to Fort worth and back in 1 day for 425 miles and the motor loves me now. The car really needed a long drive of 2 hours plus each way. I got 21.3 MPG on the way up driving 70 to 75 with a 10 MPH tail wind. The way home I got 23.8 MPG against the wind and driving with the flow of traffic. Get her out on a cruise.

Nope; always do that drive solo. Nobody has the patience for it. Last time I was down there I was I was with my sister, dropped her off at the airport at 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning for a flight back to NYC, then got on the highway and got to Brooklyn at 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Slept until Monday morning.

nice..thats going to be quite the adventure.

I recently drove from NYC to SF area for a permanent move.. we did the drive over the course of 6 days. Our first day we slept over in Knoxville.

I have some good food stop suggestions depending on the route you're taking.. lemme know!

edit: we did it in a rental SUV, not the s550.

Nice road trip planned for the first week of June. 450-500 miles from Philly to Montreal for the F1 race, will be taking US9W and NY32 most of the way I think.

Be careful. Basically the whole way north of Glenn Falls to the border is a speed trap, but especially around Plattsburgh. Got stopped going 89 in a 65 and it was six points and $700 (including a $300 "unsafe driver" charge... that was my first and only speeding ticket). AND both the cars caravanning behind me (in about 30 minute intervals, headed to Montreal for a bachelor party) got tickets.

Thanks, might have to get that radar detector installed... Thinking about buying one for the first time since I will have a car that attracts a bit more attention and actually has power to be used. Would have the throw it in the truck before I crossed the border though, Quebec doesn't like them.

Was that on 87 or on the back roads? I don't plan on taking the highway much, pretty much just to bypass Albany, since back roads are more fun and I'll still be in the break-in period.
