You could be right, but using rented or borrowed transportation means that the vehicles have to travel more distance. So it actually uses more energy. If you own your own vehicle, then it sits and waits all day while you are at work. Same thing when you are sleeping. A rental vehicle will spend some of its time driving around getting to your location every time you use it, which is additional energy/pollution.In the name of "climate change" car ownership will be frowned upon. Once driverless cars are capable to operate.
You will have an app, to summon your transportation to desired location. Then use your app to return.
I say that you could be right because most of the climate stuff doesn't really make sense anyway. Edit: you do save the construction cost of private vehicles, which would probably be a net savings especially if no one owned any personal vehicles. Depends on how much capacity is needed for the heavy times. If everyone is traveling at 8 am, you still need vehicles for everyone and you don't save much.
It's definitely a luxury to afford your own vehicle and it gives you a lot of personal freedom.
