Did some baseline dyno pulls today. 16 Premium A/T. Green drop-in filter and catch can. Needless to say, extremely impressed!

Dynapack always read considerably higher than a tire-spun dyno. Not trying to rain on the parade, it's just how it is and it's not anywhere comparable to other dynos. Those numbers are also SAE.

It's calibrated to read similar to a DynoJet.

This is from a magazine article on "dynojet" dynos.

SAE j1349 correction:
29.23 in/hg.
77 degree temp
0 percent humidity

Standard correction:
29.92 in/hg.
68 degree temp
0 percent humidity

What this all means is that "Standard" will give you 2.6 percent better numbers (very popular for the import crowd). The example the magazine gave was a Vette making 412 (SAE corrected hp). With the Standard correction it made 423. All that you will have to do is multiply your "Standard rwhp" by .974 This should equal SAE (the one everyone uses). Up here in the great white North (Washington) the temps are in the 40-50 degree area, along with 29.9-30 in/hg. So, our numbers are actually corrected down from what it made at the rear. Usually, 96-97 percent of actual posted numbers. If you dyno when it's a hotter temp or higher altitudes the numbers will usually correct up to equal the desired temp, humidity and pressure of the correction factor.

I've had two baselines. On the first engine with a Dynocom, and on the second engine with a Dynojet. Even though the tune is a Cobb OTS Stage 2, numbers aren't far from stock. Otherwise, no real performance aside from a K&N drop-in filter, a larger FMIC and a catch can. The only changes to the car between the two dynes were the engine. Thanks to my freak defective block.

Ambient Air: mid-70'sF
Best RWHP: 260
Torque: 294

Dynojet:
Ambient Air: 82°F
Best RWHP: 269
Torque: 306

At the end of the day, you got a good baseline and that's all the matters. Now, you can add mods and see how they improve performance.

In regards to the comment made by daltron, dynos aren't a drag strip. They're a tool to measure performance improvements (or sometimes the opposite). It doesn't matter what it makes or if it's perfectly accurate to the real wheel horsepower numbers. What matters is, he now has a good baseline from which he can gauge the improvement to performance with future mods.

I'm sure he'll post up time slips when he goes to the drag strip. That's all that really matters if you want bragging rights (which doesn't seem to be what he's looking for with this thread).

Those are awesome numbers for a baseline!!! 30hp higher than our 15mt on a dynojet and your curve looks much better.

It wasn't a dig at him, I was just commenting so other people saw it. Yes, a dyno should only be a a tuning tool, but realistically everyone compares different cars on different dynos in different conditions.
