To the OP, go premium. So much better materials and extras that make you feel like you are actually in a 30k car.
Been looking for a second GT to TT cause every time I get to the garage the woman has taken the Stang... Almost her car at his point. lol.

Yea, been looking at craigslist and Autotrader. Also have a neighbor with a dealers license that picks up cars at wholesale and emails me listings. Ford sold a TON of 2015 GT and the oil price collapse has led to plenty of rig workers with Stangs out of a pay check. Additionally, at the age a Stang might seem most desirable there are plenty who can barely afford it then lose a job and have to sell. Seen some repos as well. 5-12k miles still on factory oil. lol well broken in engine.

You see individual owners trying to sell for 30-35k GT Premium with <10k miles.

I'm new to the forums and was just reading the posts but am thoroughly confused. I have a 2015 GT Base Auto and it has a Sport mode on the transmission. Doesn't this change the throttle mapping and gear shifts?

No. It changes the stability control and the way TCS engages when sliding or spinning.

Absolutely. I just think that the our cars being worth 10k less in the first year is a little out there lol.
It's actually pretty close to there. Assuming you bought them close to MSRP. If you did then yeah value should have dropped about 10k in the first year for a loaded model. Hell I have been seeing loaded 401A packages for 6-8k under MSRP brand new so for those that bought them at MSRP will be losing at least 25% value in a year.

I bought my 16 GT Base with PP for 32.8k out the door total. So it will take probably 5 years to be down 10k in value imo. The premium and loaded models of any car of course depreciate a lot more since the starting price can be close to 10k higher.

I would not call Base "Stability control sport mode" a "Sport Mode". It is just an adjustment of stability control settings and nothing more.

It becomes tiring to see Base owners do that over and over again. Are the driving modes necessary ? No, but they're nice to have. And Base DOES NOT have them. They adjust throttle response (a lot), steering, traction and stability control setting with just one (or two or three - depending which mode you want) flips of the switch.

Clearly, it's quite difficult to understand it, because this conversation keeps coming up on the board. Ford did a poor job with this. Even you got it wrong.

Ford calls the Base function "AdvancTrac Sport Mode". Whether you want to call it Sport Mode or not is your call, I guess. I'll go with Ford.

Base "AdvancTrac Sport Mode" DOES indeed adjust BOTH Stability Control AND Traction Control.

I get the sense that some people that purchased Premiums are very defensive about their investment and want to emphasize the feature set over and above the Base. Yes, it's certainly true that Premium has leather seats and a large display and those critically important pony projection lamps. None of which are necessary on the track, but do make, for some, a good 'Grand Tourer'.

I guess if you bought the vehicle at MSRP then yeah 10k in a year would make closer sense. I've always found with any car in the used or CPO market, not just the Mustang, that buyers (usually) want the premium model versus the base. For example I sold my 2011 GT Premium with 50k miles on it with a few mods for 24k, while a friend of mine with a base model 2011 GT with identical mods and 12k miles sold his for 19k. Just my experience at least. I'm sure other areas are different.

I could swear that the throttle is more sensitive and the transmission stays in gears longer when I'm using it.
It's all in your head buddy.

Yeah with the previous model that did seem to be the case somewhat. But it depends on the the buyer type. A lot of people, myself included, are looking for more stripped down models. That's why I bought the base gt with pp as I didn't care for all the little add ons(Besides the nav which I do want and homelink button)
Also this new model the base interior is nicer than the previous models premium.

A lot of people, myself included, are looking for more stripped down models. That's why I bought the base gt with pp as I didn't care for all the little add ons
Ditto - and if I could have bought it even more stripped down than the base + PP, I would have.

I don't know about the throttle mapping, but definitely affect the shifts. For some reason I thought S was only for manual paddle shifting- maybe that's what the salesman told me but-
From the manual-
Sport (S)
Moving the gearshift lever to Sport (S):
• Provides additional grade (engine)
braking and extends lower gear
operation to enhance performance for
uphill climbs, hilly terrain or
mountainous areas. This may increase
engine RPM during engine braking.
• Provides additional lower gear
operation through the automatic
transmission shift strategy.
• Selects gears more quickly and at
higher engine speeds.

Ah thanks for the clarification. I stand corrected. Didn't realize he was referring to an S mode on the gear shifter. My fault! :cheers:

I'm in a similar situation right now while shopping for a '16 but I can tell you what I learned from my 2011 because it still applies.
I wanted a stripped down car so I could mod it how I wanted, figuring I'd just do stereo, seats etc..aftermarket. Wrong.
If you want to add aftermarket touchscreen that has a factory appearance and is plug and play, forget it. Nothing blends like it was built that way and nothing as of yet functions perfectly. Not to mention when you're done you'll be in for a decent chunk of $ for a compromised mod.
If you want leather that's relatively easy and not too expensive. Factory leather take-offs can be found everywhere and only takes a few hours to do.
I can't speak to interior lighting or mycolor since I didn't have any use for it and couldn't justify the cash for it.
The thing that's driving me crazy with the new ones is the rear diffuser. I love the premium and despise the base model so it automatically puts me into looking at premium models simply for that and not having to cobble together a solution for the touchscreen / nav unit.
SO.....
If you have no need for nav etc..and don't mind the base model rear diffuser then a base PP would be a great choice. Leather is cheap and easy to add later if you choose.
If you want the screen / nav then you automatically have to move up to a premium and then accept it may have more bells and whistles than you want or need but those are your two choices.

As others have said the base model interior in the '15-'16 is light years ahead of the premium models in years past so it really just comes down to a touchscreen and how much you want one or can deal with adding something that's as of yet, not quite perfect.

If the stock market tanks it might come down faster but 22-25 for a <10k miles premium might be more common on Craigslist/Autotrader in 6 months.

If the car is at the bleeding edge of what you can afford, just wait for 12 months?
