I have a base model, all my previous Mustangs have been premium. The base is more than enough. I race though, not just sit in it and drool over the gadgets.

I have a base GT/PP....
It seems to me that in the base model all we can do is shut off traction or both traction/stability and there is no change to throttle mapping or am I wrong ??? and is throttle mapping only a premium function..??
Double tap the traction control button and you'll go into sport mode

I've got a base with PP/Recaros and daily it in Michigan without any issues. Where I live, the roads get scraped/salted pretty quick so I don't have the issue of needing a ton of ground clearance. All mine needed was a set of winter tires and I've had zero issues (just was out in a decent amount of snow/ice yesterday). I previously had a premium 14 gt and when upgrading to the 15 was looking at the same you are - PP or Premium. I wanted my payment to stay about the same as my 14 so getting both wasn't an option. After test driving both, i decided I couldn't live without the PP and here I am. The only thing I really wish my car had was auto start - unfortunately that isn't an option on the manuals. If you also don't need a ton of clearance, go drive both and see what one suits your needs better.

Yes it does. Double tap the traction control button and it will pop up letting you know you are in advance trac sport mode.

Earlier in the thread, I believe, and in several other places...this seems to be a grey area. Some are saying it's the same thing, but others are saying it's different. So yes, there seems to be a "setting" of some sort...but the overall impression I'm getting is that it's a generic...not as comprehensive...type of mode in the base compared to the pre-programmed setting in the premium.

I think the best clarification would be explaining what it would take for the base version of track/sport/sport+/etc. to be identical to the Premium's settings.

Thanks

Not it's sport mode. It pulls back on the assists etc. Look it up. It's the same as premium model. Maybe ecoboost is different but I this thread is about the GT. It may not be exactly the same as the premium sport mode but it is a sport mode regardless. Premium model seems to dumb down the regular mode more than other ones. Or at least that is how it certainly felt on the test drives I took.

You got to decide whether it's the same or not because you stated both in your post.

GT modes affect more than just stability control. I would not call Base "Stability control sport mode" a "Sport Mode". It is just an adjustment of stability control settings and nothing more.

It becomes tiring to see Base owners do that over and over again. Are the driving modes necessary ? No, but they're nice to have. And Base DOES NOT have them. They adjust throttle response (a lot), steering, traction and stability control setting with just one (or two or three - depending which mode you want) flips of the switch.

How difficult it is to understand it ?

I like how all of the base guys were saying that they didn't need the bigger screen but now they're all upgrading to that chinese trash TOMTOP.
My salesman told me that whenever a buyer sees the big screen in a used car, they instantly believe the car is worth more. He said that the damn screen alone made the car easier to sell.

OP, you could go line by line as to what the Premium comes with. Some items are gadgets/party-tricks, while others are truly useful. But you can simplify it - do you also want a luxury-feeling car? For me, my new car had to be part luxury car, part sports car. For weekender thrash-it drivers, the base is more appropriate.

I know you are responding to him, and I certainly understand what you are saying. Kinda the impression I was getting through reading different threads, specifically hitting on throttle and steering changes which the base doesn't do with the traction/stability switches.

But isn't there a way to scroll through the options and change steering and throttle response in the base to match the premium's settings? If not, only other question is if there are any adjustments or aftermarket chips/parts available to give the user that option?

This is definitely not a huge deal to me, I just want to make sure we have a firm foundation as to what reality is with this issue because there is so much back and forth going on, as has been, in multiple threads about it.

Thanks

Only difference may be throttle mapping. other things are the same in base for sport mode. Premium normal mode seems like it is numbed compared to base normal mode though so I wouldn't be surprised if sport mode in premium just made it the same as the base normal. Test drove 3 premiums and felt really sluggish in normal mode compared to base ones I drove. They were all but 1 PP as well but premium in normal felt the worst of any I drove. Not sure if there are any grounds to that but it's certainly how it felt.
Steering is adjusted with the steering mode button which both cars have the same.

Yes steering modes can be changed the same in base with the steering feel button.
So putting steering in sport and advanca trac sport mode the only different would be the throttle mapping that is adjusted in premium. For winter or snow etc well I would never care about that as you just should drive slower in those conditions or have a daily.
Throttle response all you would have to do is get JMS pedal max I believe it is called which would do the same thing but much more of it. All they do is exaggerate the throttle amount you are pressing it to make it feel faster but of course if you just step on the pedal all the way there is no difference.

Still not getting it - Driving mode button in Premium changes all these things at once. Driving mode settings couple everything together in one switch, including steering.

What's the normal base throttle mapping is an interesting question because "Normal" in premium completely sucks and "Wet/Snow" is essentially undriveable.

I am getting it. Just saying the steering modes are there as well. I only live it in sport for steering as there is no reason to change it to anything else imo.

I am pretty sure they made normal mode feel slower to make sport feel like a big performance button. Nothing to back it up other than how numb premium non pp felt to me in normal mode. I have heard a lot of other people say this as well how bad normal mode feels.
