Hey all, I was hoping you might have answers to these questions....

Looking at the Ford.com builder, my impression is that the difference between the base/premium trims is the following:

(with the Recaro's optioned)
- Cloth v Leather Recaro driver/passenger seats
- Cloth v Leather rear seats
- Leather inserts in the doors
- Leather trim on the dash
- Heated steering wheel
- The option to buy the $1250 appearance package
- The option to buy the premium B&O sound system

For $2k I'm not sure I really care all that much about the above features, but I wanted to double check I'm not missing anything important before I place an order. Thanks for the help!

Katzkin is better and less. Digital dash is ANOTHER 2k surcharge. The B&O is not very good and much better components can be sourced for less.

Edit: Digital dash is included in the Mach, you can't get the analog gauges at all.

heated and cooled seats, pony puddle lamps, dual zone climate control, 8" LCD sync 3, remote start w/auto., ambient lighting, power passenger seat.

there is no leather on the dash or doors, or a heated steering wheel on any trim.

there are two levels of premium, 400a/401a

is not a premium feature. 101A/301A come with it.
ok then I am thinking option on a base GT
Base come standard with the 4.2" sync

Also select-able drive modes are options on the base, and come standard on the 400a/401a

I'd just edit the above to say that the Door insert and Dash material are not leather - they're a synthetic/vinyl material, and these areas of most cars are such, with the exception of premium vehicles, where the OEM specifically states it. (Many auto reviewers will also commonly think these surfaces are leather)

The only leather in these cars will be on the seats and steering wheel. With the seats, even then, it's seating the surface only. Seat backs are not covered in real leather, again, with the exception of more premium cars. (Even then, some will argue the genuine quaility of Ford's leather seating surfaces, but that's another thread...)

The heated steering wheel comes with the 101A & 401A packages.
OK, yes the heated steering wheel does come on the 401a, but not the 400a. So we can add the heated wheel to the list. I am thinking too that you have to have one of the premium pkgs to get the heated door mirrors.

doesn't the base Mach 1 (since that is what he is asking about) have many of those features as well, such as the ambient lighting, selectable drive modes, etc?

Yes. 200A & 400A get the heated mirrors with turn signals.
