base rear bumper

does anyone prefer the base rear bumper to the premium? just gathering every ones opinions.

If anyone owns an Oxford White premium model and and "yes" to this question, let me know. We can work out a trade.

I too tried to dip my diffuser, but failed to get a clean line. So, peeled it all off. I am considering having it wrapped in vinyl. My biggest issue, aside from the unfinished look are the carbon deposits that accumulate around the exhaust tips.

Did the whole diffuser black on mine. Didn't like the way the base one looked at all on Ruby Red:







I think the black ties the rear into the rest of the lower half of the car which is black.

I have a black car so I don't mind it at all. Took me a while to notice there was a diff btwn mine and prem models. The only thing I don't like is that you cannot do quad tips as of now with this bumper.

My whole car is wrapped including the black section on the rear bumper. As you can see, I did mine a little different and went with a different line.

Would it be ok to ask how you built your diffuser, it looks very nice.

Sintra it is a PVC foam board that you can work with wood tools light weight strong and weather resistant. You can bend it with a heat gun, drill it and screw it with wood screws. Sand the gloss off and use epoxy for big surfaces and PVC cement for small areas. Oh it come is black and white maybe more colors.

To get a clean line you need to pull the tape while the paint is still wet. Just take your time when taping everything up and then pull when wet. Took me about 1.5 cans to do it on my car so plan accordingly. Me personally, I don't care how nice the line looks (although it did come out great) since this car isn't a show car. Other trick to it is to pull the tape back on itself and away from the paint.

If anyone has a base Ingot Silver Mustang, and was wondering about Plasti Dipping the rear bumper cover to look like the premium trim...

Reaper, This looks legit. Had a thought of 'wrapping the bottom rear diffuser area in CF to match other parts that I have on order.

In your experience how does the wrap hold up at the edges? Especially the lower surface areas that collect water/dirt/grime? The rear diffuser has a lot of surface changes in small areas, does this cause issues? Thanks.

Any other pix of the wrap?

Do yourself a favor and don't combine real CF with a wrap/vinyl CF. it's very noticeable.


In my experience though there has been zero issues with the edges or any other areas.
