He has a 2020 Heritage Edition R on order. Guess he has to make room in the garage.
Yes, I know that problem. Only so much room in the stable.

Yes, unfortunately as we all get to a certain point in our lives some tough and difficult decisions have to be made and this is one of those times.

Getting closer to retirement and being almost 70 years old are certainly a couple of the factors along with what not having enough room in the stable as you well know also plays into this scenario.

I consider myself very fortunate to have some terrific friends and car buddies who have provided me with storage for some of my cars in recent months and is still the case with "F0077" but at some point I have to get that car back home as I do not want over do my welcome with a great friend in Pennsylvania.

My goal is to get down to 2 cars which I feel is reasonable and right now I still have 4 in the stable including my wife's 2003 M-B SL 500 and the 2020 GT350 R that is coming.

We love the SL 500 and also have it consigned with Mecum in Glendale and is Lot "T44" and is an outstanding vehicle with just ~26,900 miles on it and even has a 302 C.I. engine with 302 HP.

Having said all that this is not a fire sale for either car and will see where this all goes later next week.

Hey Harry, Wondering about the comment you made about Ford retaining some of these Base R cars & attrition of them. If Ford is sitting on these are they "PP" cars? Will they ever be available for the consumer market? Would they all be the same model year?

If memory is correct,I believe that Tomster mentioned a year or so ago that he knew of one that may have met it's end. Would also imagine that attrition would be a very low percentage of the Base's.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Rex, really hard to tell how many PP cars that Ford has or will retain for all of the GT350/R cars but based on history they seem to keep a number of them and also sell a number of them and of course what happens from one model year to the next seems to never be the same.

When Ford launched the 2015 GT350/R cars there were no PP cars built for that model year but a great deal of PP cars built for the 2016 MY with most of them being assembled prior to the 137 cars for the 2015 MY. Seems quite strange to have the 2016 PP cars built prior to the 2015 GT350/R's but that is what happened.

I came across "PP001" and VIN "G5200165" with the vehicle being a Shadow Black/Black stripe 2016 R model and from my understanding that car will remain in Fords custody for quite some time. I was not able to get a close look at the interior on this car but do recall the radio/navigation globe missing from the roof therefore I am quite sure this is a Base R model.

On the road right now but if I recall correctly there were 95 GT350/R PP cars built for the 2016 which is a lot compared to other model years.

Back in 2011 I recall researching the 2012 Boss 302 cars and was able to determine that Ford produced 12 - 2012 Boss 302 PP cars of which 4 of them were Laguna Seca's.

Of those 12 cars Ford only released the first 6 cars namely "PP0001 to PP0006" and was fortunate to locate and purchase PP0001 which was the first 2 seat 2012 Boss 302 PP car and also was able to locate and purchase PP0002 which was the first 4 seat 2012 Boss 302 PP car with both built back in October 2010.

Of the 135 Base R's produced over the first 4 model years (and only speculation on my part) I would suggest that less than 130 of these cars remain in the general publics hands and that is based on attrition with respect to being damaged/written off and also with Ford retaining a few of these rare automobiles.

Sorry that I could not have been of more help and precise regarding your question but what I do know is that the 135 Base R's make up only ~4% of the total R production over the last 6 model years.

Hi Phil:

You never cease to amaze me with all of your cool cars and now another great addition to your stable of automobiles.

I really love these pocket rockets with my first taste with this type of vehicle being my 1986 Dodge Omni GLH and have been hooked on these cool 4 door performance cars for a long time.

Back in 2018 I had a Rallye Red Type R and had a great time with that car and recently was offered a 2020 Boost Blue Type R as I really like that color.

Like you I have a logistical and storage issue with too many cars therefore will probably pass on the 2020 Boost Blue Type R but if I had an opportunity to purchase a 2021 Phoenix Yellow Limited Edition Type R I would find a way to make it work.

Congrats on your new ride and appreciate all of your comments and thoughts in recent weeks!
