Base models DO NOT have selectable driving modes, which alter stability, traction, throttle response, steering feel, and shift mapping for Autos. Base models have traction which can be turned off, as well as the steering feel, but nothing more.
This is not exactly correct. Sport-mode is standard on base.

The premiums come with four different “pre-selected driving modes” that you could toggle through, in addition to the individual parameter settings.
Per Ford "They provide a single location to control multiple systems performance settings."

Standard settings on I4, V6 & V8:
Steering (3 modes) - Comfort, Normal & Sport
Traction Ctrl (3 modes) - Normal, Trac off, & Trac+ESC off
Auto Transmission (3 modes) - Normal, Sport, & Manual

Sport-mode is a more aggressive fully automatic mode that changes the transmission’s shift parameters and response to throttle input. Longer lower gear operation through the automatic shift strategy, selects gears more quickly and at higher engine speeds, faster/sooner down shifts, & locks out O/D.

Does the premium steering wheel adjust differently then the base? The base was Judt a push and lift...

Finally those toggle switches tickle my fancy too.
Yes, those things are badass. I drove a Magnetic GT Premium GT w/PP today and fell in love.

GT weighs

-A Base GT with No Options weighs 3577lbs on a full tank
-A Base GT with Performance Pack weighs 3640-3650lbs
-A Base GT with Recaro's and NO PP could weigh between 3500-3530lbs (depending on seat weight, I'm saying between 25lbs and 40lbs saving per seat)
-A Base GT with Recaro's and PP could weigh between 3570-3600lbs with NO Options.

-A Premium GT with NO Options weighs 3639lbs
-A Premium GT with 66lbs of options (out of 100lbs total) weigh 3705lbs.
-A Loaded Premium GT should weigh 3740lbs (with all 100lbs of option weight)
-A Loaded Premium GT with Performance Pack weighs 3815lbs (PP looks to be about 75lbs or 25lbs heavier than the '14 TP)

*None of these weights are with a spare tire
*401a weight is included into the 100lbs of option weight and is included in the 3814lbs MT tested weight.
*All weights would be with a full tank of gas.
*I still haven't confirmed if the MT car had the Shaker System equipped, it would add 20-30lbs more on top of the 100lbs of option weight. Edit: Nvm, the 401a and Shaker are included in the 100lbs.

My previous 2011 Premium Brembo GT weighed 3555lbs on 50 to E. A 2015 in the same situation weighs about 3600lbs with the standard seats.

There are some situations where a 2014 is lighter, some situations show the 2015 is lighter. Either way, no matter how they are optioned, the S197 and S550 are within 100lbs of each other in multiple equipment scenarios.

I have been Okay'd to talk about OEM weights, I CANNOT discuss weight savings or cage construction from here on out. It appears that a Base 2015 GT weighs about 27lbs more than a Bare bones Base 2011 GT (3550lbs), not sure about the 2014's Base weights. So, al in all, I guess it is heavier standard base to standard base. Once Recaro's are thrown in, it gets pretty close.

Things to remember here: The Premium is about 20lbs heavier this year due to more speakers and amp.
The Performance Package weighs about 25lbs more this year too...
Weight savings is larger between the Recaro's and Standard seats this year. The passenger seat use to be a manual cloth seat so, less savings there when a Recaro is compared, about 5lbs I was told.

As Sal mentioned this is not correct. You get drive modes in the base also, you just need to know how to 'create' them vs using the toggle that turns certain things on and off for you to get a specific drive mode.

This is not exactly correct. Sport-mode is standard on base.

I believe Sal can tell you how to make each of the Toggle drive modes by turning certain things on and off (normal is obvious) but things like wet/snow and track and sport modes can be recreated with certain buttons/switches on and off.

Hello, I'm new to this forum . My question is regarding 2015 Base Mustang GT with Performance Pack. If the non-premium does not have "selectable drive modes" what is the default mode? I understand "steering modes" comes standard on the base GT but that has no affect on throttle response. I mainly want to know if purchasing the base GT results in missing out on that extra lively punch you get in "sport plus" mode.
Thanks!

My understanding is that by using a combination of steering modes and traction control you can emulate most/all of the settings available on the Premium.

Now that sounds promising! I can do some research as to what combinations of which buttons do what. Nevertheless I'm still waiting for a build date or EDD. I appreciate the reply.
Thanks!
