Hello,

In need of help from knowledgeable mustang people, doing a coyote swap into a 1956 Ford F100.
It is a 2016 5.0 Coyote w 6R80, Ford racing control pack, ultimate headers.

Got everything working and started it up but suffered from bad noise, almost like a clonking, you can hear it is you listen to the video.
We figured out that the headers were not 100% tight so we will have to rework those somehow but not sure if the sound is exhaust leak related? Any ideas or do you for sure think it is the headers not tight? Thanks in advance.

Sounds timing chain related to me. Pull the cam covers off and look at the chains and guides.

I'm not some place I can listen to the video. But it might help if you can share what you know about the history of the engine/ trans.

Thanks for fast reply, will check that. Engine and trans is from 2016 Mustang with low mileage. The car was in an accident but all checks proved fine from the scrapyard. Engine and everything looks was good, only thing we noticed is that the oil pan is dented and passenger side valve cover had a crack in it so we replaced it.

Is the flex plate hitting bellhousing spacer plate?
Got the torque converter bolts tight?
You sure there isn't something in the intake or intake manifold bouncing around?

Thanks for the ideas, will check this and make sure as well. The weird thing to me is that it is not constant, instead it comes and goes a little and on higher rpm no sound at all.

Yeah, that why I was thinking there may be something bouncing around inside the intake tube or intake manifold. It sounds very hollow and plastic.

Hello again, after some more researching. Reading a lot of the BBQ / Typewriter tick that seems to be really common on the coyote. Could it be that? A lot of people talking about it as a popping, a few videos sounds more ticking and a few more like ticking.

That doesn’t sound like the tick to me. The tick sounds just like the name suggests, like an old typewriter. Your sound has more of a clunking sound to it which the coyote tick does not have. As others suggested it sounds like you have something bouncing around in your IM.

Not the BBQ tick. Have you removed the intake tube, and intake manifold yet to look for broken pieces, or perhaps a tool or something that got stuck?

Hello again.
finally we have solved the bad sound, the regulator showed wrong fuel pressure. We replaced it and set it to 55 psi and it worked.
thanks for all the help.
