Backup camera doesn't work when freezing

Does anyone else have an issue with their reverse camera when the temperature is below 32F (0C)?

Seems like every morning, I get a black screen and a "camera unavailable" message when I first start. After warming up a bit, it works just fine.

I don't seem to have an issue with my camera early in the morning with temperatures like 18F. I don't know if there is a correlation between the two but others might know better. Perhaps it could be your battery not powering up other electrical components?

No issues with mine, even with single digit temps.

Looking around a bit it doesn't seem to be an unusual problem across all equipped vehicles (not just Mustangs or Fords).

I think I'll look for my own fix before I head to the dealership.

I just found that TSB 17-2068 was put out on the 18th of April 2017...

2 months after this thread, and after my warranty was gone.

The solution?
Replace the APIM.

Of course... The APIM for the 2015-2017 models has been discontinued...
