Interesting. I've had the same issue with my backup cam. Once after a hard mountain twisty run and once after returning from a session on a road course.

Ive now "repaired" 6 of 9 wires in that loom and still have no trunk light and the fob isn't releasing the trunk though I can hear it clicking at the latch. Cam is now working and the ext and int trunk release is working.

Ill be taking mine in at some point, it's super F'd in that harness, more than I found, but if they wont warranty after I've monkeyed F'd it then I'll just sit on it, it's a lease and it "works" otherwise. FOB won't pop it open, dash indicator is illuminated as open, no trunk light. Camera works and trunk pops from inside and outside the car.

I'm sure what will happen with mine is they will swap the new parts in see that they didn't fix the issue and then look at the wiring.

Rehashing an old thread: I had the exact same problem with my camera not working. Found broken wires in the same spot as VinnAY. I spliced the wires but still cannot get the camera to work.

Does anyone know the part number for this wiring harness? I would like to just replace the entire thing if possible, but I can't seem to find a part number for this. I'm out of my warranty, so I'd prefer to do this myself rather than take it in to a dealer.

Thanks!

I would recommend visiting the parts department of your local Ford dealer. They can pull up the schematics for all the different part #'s when you provide them with your VIN #.

Is there a TSB or recall for this?

Reviving and old thread. Upgraded from the 4.2in base system to Sync 3 on August 10 (used Hextall's plug and play harness) and everything has worked fine.

Today I had the issues described in this thread. Looking back at my service history binder, November 14, 2016, Downtown Ford of Sacramento replaced the rear view camera, but according to the invoice, the wiring harness was not touched.

I have gone out and checked the wiring harness and no visible signs of damage (also ran fingers up and down harness and no tactile signs of damage) and no DTC's when checked with Forescan. ARRGG...looks like I have to either take it to Ford or do this myself...I am not comfortable with working with electronics through unless it is plug and play...suggestions?

I know there is a TBS...and it has been quoted in this thread...does anyone know if they can get the actual TBS uploaded onto this thread so I can download it and show it to my dealer?

Just to update...took the car to Ford today to do oil change and do diagnosis...they did find some wire fraying...but nothing so severe...said main problem is with camera and that has to be replaced. However, since I just had it replace a little under 2 years ago, I am still under the parts warranty...so it looks like I get a new camera for free. I am having ford repair the damage to the wires (just so it does not become a problem in the future).

One suggestion I will make is to CAREFULLY remove/cut the zip-tie that mounts the wire loom to the underside of the rear deck-lid...yes it will hang down a little, but this allows for more movement and makes the loom as a whole less susceptible to pinching.
