I have seen a huge variety of numbers on YouTube and this forum for the axle nut sizes.

For rear I have seen 32mm (a couple DIYers), 36mm (CJ Pony Parts) and 1.25" (LMR).

Can someone who has taken their rear hub off please confirm the size? Same for the front?

I'm also assuming I should have deep sockets for both.

Thanks

Most people use 32mm for the rear. It works but an 1-1/4 is a much better fit.
Most people use 36mm for the front. It works but a 35mm is a much better fit.
A deep socket is your best bet. Some shallow will work but it depends on the brand.

I just received my new rear axel nuts, and. 1-1/4 deep draw socket. The socket isn’t close to fitting, too small!
What’s up?

I've only replaced the rear hubs/half shafts on my 2017 GT. The stock axle nut was 32mm and I used a 32mm impact socket to take it off/reinstall. Replaced the stock GT halfshafts with the GT350 half shafts. Both half shafts take a 32mm axle nut.

Not positive but I think the Ford Performance half shafts, the $2K per pair ones, might take a 36mm nut. The CJ pony parts video on YT for that half shaft swap lists a 36mm socket in the "required tools" beginning part of the video, but doesn't mention it again during the video.

You can typically find a standard socket that will fit a metric nut if you don't have the metric socket and vice versa. 3/4" will fit 18mm nut. 1.25" will fit 32mm. Personally, I will usually buy the proper sized socket if I don't already have it in order to prevent rounding off the fastener. IMO a $10 socket is a way better bargain than hours of my time trying to cut or torch off a nut or bolt that I rounded over or otherwise messed up.

Had no idea they even made a 31mm socket. My set of big sockets goes 30-32-34-36 and I think 40 or 42mm after that.

Me neither but I found it on Amazon. Also, the tekton shallow 31 from Amazon is not quite deep enough to fully seat so I recommend the deep one in that brand.
