Uniden R3 is absolutely beast of the detectors. This thing will warn you over mile away Ka band. Doesn't go off constantly for K bands and has lots of features for options.

I have the R1 and it is incredible as well, could use a little bit better K band filtering but for a entry level detector its great. Someday I will upgrade to the R3

They are certainly nice but if, like me, you want primo capability on highways at speed, Valintine one is still king.

Very nice.. Can you provide some insight on the on the installation? Does it literally plug in or is there some wiring involved to install like you have done?

Where are you located? I'm in L.A. and am thinking of picking up a radar detector. I'm trying to decide between this R3 or the upcoming R7...just wasn't sure whether radar detectors are still viable in CA or whether they've all switched over to lasers yet.

I used the cigarette cable wire it came with. I cut the wires and tapped into my mirror power wires.

The cable has 4 small wires inside. You only need to use red (positive) and black (negative).

The mirror harness wires are brown (positive) and blue (negative).

I also ran s small 3amp fuse and tucked wires and fuse under the headliner.

I am in irvine. I believe the upcoming r7 has the front and rear arrows and that is about it.

I am on trip right now going up north and on 5N it works perfect. I did get a laser last night on 405N but couldn't or locate a cop.

But today I got about 5 Ka band warnings and all of the were spot on. Cop cars located after 3/4 of mile to a mile.

This is the blend mount. You can buy a mirror wire tap to run power directly from your mirror.

It is expensive. I kind of just splurged on it.
