Granted this Is not a Corvette, but Chevy expects to sell more automatics than manuals. And the auto is quicker.

You could swap the rear-end gears for less than $500. See if you can test drive one with 3.31's or 3.55's.

For the Chevy guys, a manual transmission is an option. They just assume all their buyers want autos.

Just practice. My mustang was my first manual transmission car and took time and patience :)

Seriously, arguing over the choice of A/T versus M/T is like comparing Redheads to Blondes. To each their own! I have driven M/T for over 5 decades and still do enjoy driving them at Auction Sales. Sure they are fun and if you have the opportunity to live in a rural area with open winding roads, its a good choice. As a daily driver to be stuck in constant stop & go urban and highway conditions, the "thrill" vanishes rather quickly. As they say, be careful for what you wish for, either way. Nothing worse then "buyers regret".

It can be a little jumpy in first and second, so I just power it into third, asap. Get out of first as quickly as you can and stay out as long as the wheels are rolling. Second comes in handy with traffic circles. After a few miles in slow traffic with stop signs, your feet will start working together.

Nowadays an auto is just as good/quick as a manual. Back in the day this wasn't so, or autos were 4 speed an manuals 5, but that hasn't been true in quite some years.

I'll remember all of the GT auto guys when they start slamming EBs again ;)

Seriously, though, to the original OP: the cost and potential problems don't make a swap worthwhile. You'll eventually get it. If you decide it's not for you go trade it and eat the depreciation. Either way, you'll have a great car :)

You can pay a transmission shop to remove the manual transmission and put in an automatic transmission.
Stop posting please. OP.. if you don't like the gear then swap them out for 3.31 or 3.55 otherwise keep practicing or like others said, start in 2nd

Same with rear spoilers!

Sorry! Couldn't help it. ;)

But I agree 100% with your analogy. :)

Speaker which of "Blade Spoilers" or lack of, I have done considerable research checking incoming Inventory of multiple Dealers for Convertibles that are ordered for Stock an will be arriving soon. Except for the Base V6 Coupes/Fastbacks and Convertibles that don`t come standard with them, almost all other configurations including Base V6`s ordered with the 051A Package will have them. Guess they figure, if there is no "credit" allowed for deleting the Blade Spoiler, most Buyers will complain. Another example of "if its including and paid for without a credit allowance", most will want it. I personally would pay extra to simply have it deleted. Again, everyone has their own preference.

Certain cars I prefer certain trans, mustangs to me I just want to go fast so auto power adder is the route, in a viper or vette 6 spd as it's more of a road racing car.

I sorta see your point (but) where you live and the amount of stop & go traffic you experience daily also factors in for a lot of folks. Being stuck on the Interstate and spending 30 minutes to creep along a few miles takes a lot of the fun out of engaging the clutch in a few hundred times.

For commuting in heavy traffic, stop and go, autos are superior and the performance penalty in sport driving has diminished over the years. When I'm sitting low to the ground, with a stick shift, it is a taste I've acquired over the years, thanks largely to my wife, the Mustang nut. (RIP)
