My '15 GT trans temp on an 80* day is around 205*. That seems really warm. I dont have anything to base this on because I never had a car that showed the trans temp before.
What are others showing?

83 degrees out atm and I've been idling in traffic for about 20 minutes... trans temp is 190 degrees. This is on a 16 GT.

You want the transmission to operate at around 200 for maximum efficiency and longevity.
The transmission fluid needs to be thin enough for the clutches to engage fast but yet provide enough lubrication to lubricate the gears.
Lower is not always better which is same for engine coolant temperature.

Thanx, that is a reasonable and helpful response.I think that riding aircooled motorcycles has me always thinking cooler would be better. the motors keep getting bigger and the temps keep going up.

My GT automatic on a 30F day is the same as 70F day at 200F when fully warmed up. It's just how fast it gets there.

My 2016 ecoboost runs about 200 on an 80 degree day. That's interstate driving at about 75 mph. It stays in that area once I get into city traffic. I think the person that said it's better to have some heat in it is right. In fact, dodge trucks use engine coolant to heat the transmission fluid quickly on cold days for fuel efficiency, since the fluid is thinner when warmed up.

I've only had my temp up to 205-210 during spirited driving on the highway, I would assume that's normal. I've had manual transmissions in all of my cars with the exception of this one and my lightning I will probably never go manual again you can't out shift a computer.

Wouldn't worry until over 225 for a while, and that just reduces the life of the oil.

Mine was in the low 200's after a 20 min track session. I believe that the auto has a trans cooler already.
