Have you seen the exhaust comparison video by Mustang Motorsports? It compares the stock to roush to jba. That blue Mustang is so beautiful
I have, several times and with headphones, as we've probably all done with a hundred or more Youtube clips of exhausts over the past year. I'm the one always asking about passive v active exhausts. I know the owner of the gun metal grey Roush MM-SR7 and can't wait to check it out in person.

Unfortunately MM don't have any black tipped tips for the quad pipe in stock so that rules one of my options out for now.

OK so I have been pondering the exhaust issue for far too long now, I have read god knows how many posts, listened to far too many sound clips and I am pardon the pun - exhausted.

So time to ask the audience.

I like the current standard note it is awesome, but far too quiet, if I could keep it as is and just turn up the volume I would be a happy camper, maybe add a bit of burble on overrun also would be nice. I have had a run in Phil's car (Racered-GT) with the Magnaflow axle back and that sounded nice - thanks Phil:thumbsup:. But now I am thinking I could maybe go up a little in volume, so was thinking Magnaflow CAT back.

Spoke to a local exhaust company near work and he reckons doing just a resonator delete with a H pipe with the standard mufflers would probably get me what I was after, $180.00 fitted and drive out the door, sounds far to easy. Was about to do this until I spoke to mate who has had an exhaust done by the same mob and he told me they have no idea what they are doing and he had nothing but dramas with them, burnt wiring harness, bolts not done up etc.... arrgh back to square one.

So options are:
H pipe resonator delete. Has anyone done a resonator delete with standard mufflers, or have any experience with doing this?

Magnaflow axle back, safe bet, sounded OK, but maybe there is something better. Also there is a fitment issue with them at the moment and they are working on a fix, not sure how long that will take.

Magnaflow CAT back, these do fit so I am told and an easy bolt up so if I hate it easy to change, or even I guess I could add the original resonator back in and essentially have the axle back.

I am sure that with the new exhaust my fuel economy will also improve greatly, at the movement I have to keep flooring it just to make sure they didn't accidently put in a hybrid engine, if I can hear it then wont need to do that all the time:)

Sorry for the ramblings this just keeps running through my head and making me dizzy

Thoughts?

PS no I am not going to buy 6 different ones and try them all:lol:
If the local exhaust shop you are considering has a bad rep, you may want to skip that option, or find another shop. Burning a wiring harness and chasing down exhaust leaks is gonna cost you a headache and much more money in the long run.

If you like the sound of your buddies axleback, our Competition catback may be just right for you. It will have the same look and similar sound, but since it is a more complete system, the changes will all be greater. This means the sound will be deeper and louder than the axle back version, and slightly better power gains too. The fact that the system comes with an X-pipe is a plus for most owners.

Since the system is a direct bolt on and comes with all the necessary hardware, it can be installed in an hour or two, even if you're a novice wrencher.

I should have my corsa sports on in about a month if you are interested in hearing that one

Also listened to a thousand Youtube videos, Leaning slightly in favour of Borla S-type Catback (Atak is obviously too loud, and a bit too raspy), although I think that only available with an X-pipe (would prefer H).

The thing is, I have no idea what is going to attract legal attention, and what will cruise under the radar (obviously the way you drive it is going to have an influence).

I just wonder if new Mustangs will get picked on more, especially as many will be driven more often than the oldies. We've got a '67 with a VERY loud exhaust. It was on the car before the resto, and it's stainless and in very good condition (just possibly need to replace one of the mufflers one day as it has a slight ding in it), so we kept it. Was better to spend the money on getting some interesting stuff done to the engine and transmission. I have no idea what the exhaust is (just has "Made in USA" stamped on it). Someone will probably tell me one day. But it doesn't get legal attention, at least in 3 or so years as a weekend car. I'm kind of guessing that our flashing light friends accept this in an older car that's obviously been restored.

I've got a lot of time to think about things with the car being a Sept 4 2015 order, and hopefully I get to hear some exhaust mods in real life.

I think it depends how you drive the car, in saying that I have been pulled over 3 times so far. Always to have a look at my car haha.

One of the reasons I went with the Sports instead of the Xtreme was that I didn't want a lot of attention from the police but apparently that just comes with the car. At the end of the day, the reality is if you are getting up to 4,500+rpm you are probably over the speed limit anyway so use and don't abuse!!

That's interesting that you've been pulled over 3 times already.
aussierob, any heat with your sports installed?

3 times in a month for no real reason? :eyebulge:That's getting into harassment territory and an abuse of power. And puts you into a panic for no reason. Hopefully by the time mine gets here the interest will have died down.

I think some cops are just curious/into cars. Same thing happened with my last car for a few months, till there were more on the road

No doubt, I remember driving a 350Z on the weekend it was released. Initially got pulled over because the cop was interested, turned into some sweaty moments when the car was coming back as unregistered in the system, it had been registered late on the Friday afternoon. Took about 15 minutes to prove I hadn't stolen it.

Yeh they are just curious, I don't really mind to be honest, the car gets a lot of attention and I am happy for people to have a look and take their pictures.

Yeah same here. Sometimes it gets annoying though.

Don't forget about EVERYTIME you get gas! :p

Still... I'm sure it'll be better than the attention (or unwanted attention) you'd get from driving a 458/488 or something.
