The grille design you see in Ford's corporate look (as found in the Evos concept) - which everyone thinks is a copy of Aston Martin's grille - is actually found in the Mustang from the 60s.
Correct. And the Aston's grill really took on its current form in the '70s when they created the V8 Vantage which took a lot of styling cues from a certain pony car.

Technically that grill shape was brought to fruition in the David Brown era after he bought AM in 1947. Hence all the DB monikers.

It really gained traction starting with the DB2 (50-57) the DB 3 in red (57-59), DB 4 in dark blue (58-63) and of course the DB5 in classic dark silver (63-65).

The 2015 and later Mustangs have an Aston Martin suggested look. The Aston maybe a a bit more attractive. But now the new Aston Martin Vantage is out, the Mustang looks way better. Way, way better
When I first read this I thought maybe you had some illicit substances in your system. Then I did a search and looked at photos of the 2018 Vantage..

The 2018 Vantage looks terrible from the front in my opinion. I'm not sure what they were thinking. Usually Astons are incredibly good looking. The new Vantage is great from most angles as well, but I couldn't get over that front end.

2018 Vantage looks absolutely awesome. Old Vantage look was getting outdated.
Those who think the Mustang looks better than an Aston are smoking some good stuff. Keep it up

Maybe. Mustang first came out in April 1964. Th Aston Martin DB4 predates that

Yes, that's the classic AM grill shape and I don't think anyone would argue that the Mustang or Fusion mimics that.

It was in the '70s that AM changed the proportion of the shape and its relationship to the headlights. It became wider and shorter with the headlights nestled in next to the grill. That created a strong resemblance to the '60s Mustang.

I used to own a 4.3 Aston Martin. It was an 06 and a lovely looking car, it also handled like a dream...

I sold it and for less money than my 10 year old Aston I bought brand new Mustang GT.

My thoghts on the 2 cars are as follows

Speed. Aston is faster
Acceleration. mustang is quicker
Comfort. About the same
Practicality Mustang wins, bigger boot and rear seats
Economy. Despite the bigger engine the Mustang easily wins.
Noise. Aston
Handling. Aston, but Mustang not far behind with a few simple cheap mods
Brakes. Mustang
Looks. Both are good looking, I think the Aston just edges it, but not by much.
Servicing. Mustang easy win
Running costs Mustang easy win
Modifications. mustang easy win, loads of upgrades available at sensible cost..
I was quoted ÂŁ20k to SC my Aston
Big power. mustang easy win
Cool factor.... both cars are cool, but the Mustang seems to attract far more positive comments from bystanders.

As for the new Aston, I could buy 3 new Mustangs for the same price.

As a Mustang owner, I wouldn't go back to an Aston even if I could afford it (which I can't)

They went Eli Manning with the nose just like Ford did for 2018, but even worse.

Ah, now I feel better. I can live with my Mustang and can come to terms that I cannot afford an Aston.
I think I prefer the Mustang but I like the name AM
In the US, an Aston will attract more attention

That's one thing I love about the Mustang's 50th anniversary-style chrome trim around the window. It really brings out the Aston Martin look.
