So I have roush axle backs and wanted a little more sound so I bought an H pipe...well i got my wish, its louder, too loud in fact. To the point where im concerned it will get me in trouble or keep me from having fun with the car for fear of revving it all the way out.

Now that said I will reaume the search for something a bit louder than just axle backs and came across this reaonator from borla. Anyone paired this with an axle back? In theory im assuming it will quiet it down.

Welding on resonators to the h-pipe will probably give you a happy medium

You get used to it. Trust me...My combo is probably louder than yours, and I was shocked at first. Now I drive it and sometimes I wish it was louder, still. LOL

I had the Magnaflow Competition catback for 2 months. Cold starts were embarrassingly loud in the mornings and normal acceleration was pretty loud, too. I got a lot compliments and I loved it for the most part, but it was just too loud for everyday use. And it had drone. Basically, I think I know how you feel.

Due to some circumstances, I had the opportunity to get a new exhaust. I've got the Roush Quad Active Exhaust now. In sport mode, it's prob 80% the volume of the Magnaflow Comps. In touring mode, it's as loud as stock. Yeah, it's pricey, but I don't have to worry about my neighbors getting annoyed anymore. I'm thinking about getting a h-pipe since I now since I can turn down the noise.

Pretty confident that the Borla resonators with the Roush axle backs will be somewhere in-between the stock resonators and h-pipes. I've seen these run with x/h-pipes to mellow things out, too:
