guys, i didn't order an EB, i'm just saying that the EB guys will enjoy their car almost as much as we GT guys will.
agreed...

The GT guys are going to love their muscle car.

The EB guys are going to love their pony car.

Win win.

Two different cars...two different styles...two different markets.

He actually drove both and said the EB felt just more balanced to him/lighter/nimbler and bar none said it would be a nice daily driver. Asked me about tracking/things like that and I told him I don't plan on ever racing this thing..

This isn't a "push EB sales thing for CAFE" Brent, this was his opinion of what he liked better when he got the opportunity to drive both in Vegas.
Well my opinion...his opinion sucks lol. He's probably part of the group of heroes that drove a PP EB and a base Auto GT.....

doesnt make any sense to me either, but i don't have a problem with others making their own decisions based on their needs.

i for one wouldnt mind buying an EB Auto Premium for the wife.

my bro wants a mustang as well and i would be ecstatic if he picked up an EB manual premium

hell i'm probably better off with an EB myself since I do 100 miles a day.

Well I know Zombie's 2015 GT isn't broken in yet but he's averaging 10 mpg...lol.

He's also stomping it every chance he gets....and in a Challenger R/T the best spirited MPG i can get is 7 so 10 is an improvement.

Its V8 for me
I have loved American cars all my life and never dreamed I would own one. I watch films and marval at all the v8s running around the streets. I went on holiday to the states and was picked up at the airport by a mini bus, powered by a v8!!! a minibus!!
I was picked up in taxis powered by V8s
I have books on American cars on my book shelf. Most are V8s. My all time favorite car is the 57 Chevy, with a V8 (sorry Ford fans).
Now I have worked my butt off with my business and I am in the position to buy an American icon. The ecoboost could be faster for all I care but there will only be one engine under the bonnet (hood) of my Stang and thats a purring, thundering V8
I will be living the dream everytime I start her up!

This pretty much is my same opinion yet I'm American lol. I have never owned a mustang but always admired them from a distance. My buddies all had Camaro's or Trans Am's growing up and I never cared much for them. Sure they were fast but seeing a brand new fox body notchback rumble through my high school parking lot as a kid, I knew one day I would own a mustang with a 5.0 V8. Fast forward to today the pony car is as refined as it's ever been, finally IRS as standard equipment and has all the cool modern do-dads I could ever need in a car....... plus AC seats!! Sign me up as it's everything I've ever wanted from a Mustang! I've had turbo 4 banger (SRT4 neon) with a meaty lil motor. It was a hoot but for me I gotta have a V8 if I'm dipping my foot in the a Mustang family, especially for the first time.

Besides even the GT should get better gas mileage than my '10 5.4L F150. I currently average 16 MPG in 50/50 city/highway with 22's and a dirty air filter :D. I'm not buying this car for fuel mileage though but I can see the appeal for those wanting a Mustang but also want good gas mileage. At least they give people an option and I really don't think anyone would be disappointed with either. The EB is the more sensible decision for me since I drive more than 150 miles a day for work but I threw out being sensible years ago after owning more motorcycles than I care to admit :D

Yep. But the EB being driven hard in the reviews was getting low 20s. That's a big deal for those that value MPG.

I honestly think you're viewing the EB in a brighter-than-reality light. There are a few reviews mentioning the lack of noticeable difference in fuel efficiency when driven with any kind of haste. Driving style is going to dictate your fuel economy way more than the EB and GT's baseline EPA numbers. You could drive a GT and nab similar or better MPGs than a driver who's pushing his EB harder.

November issue of C&D has an ecoboost review. They observed 19mpg with mixed driving. This was an auto with 3.55 so you mileage may vary, but I suspect it is unlikely you are going to see low 20s when driving hard.

fwiw, they said the 19 mpg was disappointing. Especially given they saw 21mpg average with the equally as quick last v6 mustang they tested.

Wow...I get 17 mixed driving in my R/T with mild spirited driving...

I don't plan on tracking either the GT or EB nor pushing it crazy hard all the time, so that sort of driving probably wouldn't apply to me.

I'll be driving both the EB and GT next Wed so I'll get to see first hand how they do when driven hard though.

Based on my experience with the focus ST I would say go with the GT for a couple reasons.

1. They're too close in performance, the Mustang has 30-40 hp but also weighs a few hundred more pounds.

The mod potential isn't as big as you might think. With the DI motors it seems they are fuel limited as there aren't many economical high pressure fuel pump options.

Fuel economy on the highway isn't that great. In the focus at 75-80 the motor is spinning around 3300 rpm in sixth and drinks gas accordingly.

Around here in DC, our max speed is 65, most roads are 55, so for many that city/suburb drive, we wouldn't get up to that much around here anyway unless we risk a ticket (not saying I don't from time to time ;))

Sometimes we envy you central/mid-west folks with the open roads and higher limits.

none of that has a thing to do with the 2.3. seems it has lots of fuel headroom. and well the gearing is the same as a v8..
