Anyone wanting a twisted road trip can find websites that describe the best winding roads for bikers.
Here is one example that rates 100 bike roads. http://www.motorcycleroads.com/best/?s=75
Deals Gap (aka Hwy 129, The Dragons Tail) seems to be near the top of most such lists. I have driven it three times over the years. The most fun was when I had someone to 'chase'.
It is fraught with danger though, from trucks, careless drivers crossing center lines, fallen leaves etc. The police rightfully keep a close eye on you.

I travel on business and everywhere I go I hit local car forum and find out what the best local driving roads are. I only get to hit them in a rental but its a weird hobby of mine because someday Im going to buy and trailer, a Miata and then run all of the roads I've documented.

In my personal opinion the dragons tail is probably the best I've driven in the US. There are roads that are more scenic and roads that provide different challenges but nothing combines all elements like the dragon. If the dragons tail is within two or three hours it really is an amazing option.

Probably will take my Ecoboost up hwy 330 to Big Bear lake. I did get to take advantage of Volvo's oversea delivery a couple of years back. They flew me and the wife to Sweden where we picked up the car and drove 2800 miles the next 16 days through Sweden Norway and Denmark. Then they flew us home. The only downside was waiting 7 weeks for the car to get shipped to our dealership. Great way to break in a car though. I'd highly recommend it....lol..I would happily drive the Mustang home from Flat Rock myself.

The first long road trip will probably be to Mustang Week next year. Once that gets closer it would be great to organize something for the forum.

I live 45 minutes from the Dragon so I will probably hit it when I leave the dealership in mine. For all those that want to drive it, go at night...no bikes, no cops. Any other time its the worst road you've ever driven.

The genesis coupe forum has a bi-annual meet at the Tail of the Dragon. This board will have to do something similar next year when there are plenty of '15 Mustangs on the road.
