Just returned this past Sunday from my first long road trip in my 2015 Mustang. 3.7 V6. My girlfriend and her daughter and myself and my youngest daughter packed up--and I DO MEAN PACKED UP--the trunk with 2 big suitcases...I was traveling with 3 females...sooooo....and a cooler in the trunk and snacks and all that.
We drove up to see my family in Iowa and drove up thru Monteagle in Tennessee which is actually more fun driving south than north.
We did go thru some hilly areas in the Tennessee area. Im happy to say we did just fine EXCEPT for the girlfriend getting a speeding ticket 20 miles outside of Hannibal Missouri!!! She was doing 80 in a 65!! "This car rides so smooth you dont know you are going that fast!!" she told me!!
I predicted around 30 mpg for gas mileage and Pumpkin...as its nicknamed... came damn close with several 27 and 28s!! I thought that was pretty good as packed as it was!! I had THE WORKS maintanence done at my Ford dealership where I bought the car in September of last year and had my girlfriends brother in law...a former Ford mechanic...do the plenum gasket, ignition coils, and plugs, right before we left. All told it was over a 3000 mile road trip with some driving around in northeast Iowa and into Wisconsin to Prairie du Chein one day to get....what else...Cheese Curds!!
Does anybody else have a lengthy road trip from this year? Would love to hear it!

How did the kids fair in that little back seat for all that time? Sounds like a nice adventure sans the ticket.

Actually not too bad. One or two complaints about cramped legs. But Im 5'9" and I even took a few turns back there. I sat behind my girlfriend who is thankfully short LOL...and I was fine. Had to slump down just a BIT but it was ok!

Oh wow. You're from Titusville? Do you know the Walter family by chance? 60yr old parents with kids in their late to young 20s?

Recent 2200 mile round trip Austin to Chicago and back. Almost all interstate each way. 2018 GT A10 3.15 gear. Cruises effortlessly at 80 mph, 2000 rpm. My Daughter and I loaded rear seat and trunk.
Drove easy, with cruise control at 78, speed up to 80 to 85 a few times to pass or stay with traffic. These cars are a joy to use on trips. Comfortable seats and nice exhaust tone(stock). Icing on the cake, a little over 27 mpg.

DITTO!! Thats exactly where I was speedwise...cruise set on 78-80....80-85 to not get run over!! LOL Seems to be the 'sweetspot' for my V6 anyway. And for a stock exhaust it sure DOES have a nice tone!!

If its a Walter that takes a lot of really good NASA photos, my girlfriend knows the family...but said the kids may be a bit older than their 20s.

Glad you had a happy safe trip, my sister and family live in DesMoines IA . I usually stay at Super 8 in Hannibal and eat at Logues Restaurant next door. Have driven my Ford Fusion and F150 up there but haven't yet with Mustang maybe this Fall. Monteagle is really fun with 40 ton Semi

Taking my Mustang up to my moms place (3 hours north of Toronto) for the first time ever. Had the car a year but haven't been up there since last year when I still had the C43. Will be fun change of drive.

I lived in Dunlap TN when they "fixed" the interstate. First semi that went down it used the run off ramp. It was safer before the fix IMO. More fun too.

Just did a 2000 mile round trip in my 6spd ‘18 GT to Florida with some stops in Birmingham on the way down and Nashville on the way back. No issues. A blast to drive. My wife can’t drive a manual so I drove every mile.

Ill bet it is! More like Pucker Time! Didnt see any having to use the run offs but several with warning flashers going. More power to you and whoever has to go that way. Monteagle is also fun on a motorcycle! And thanks! Except for the ticket...LOL...it was a safe and mostly happy trip!!

They certainly are fun to drive. Even on long road trips. The looks and thumbs up you get...the sound of the exhaust...well...you know!!

Ill bet you were a little beat from all that driving. You dont feel it until you take a rest and get in the passenger seat just HOW tired you are. Glad you made it. Oddly... Nashville was a bigger PITA than Atlanta usually is.
