There are three local dealers saying they are not "discounting" the 2015 Mustang because its not even out yet and trying to sell at MSRP. I have two quotes that are at 2% under invoice and will be placing the order this week. Just curious if any forum members are paying MSRP at this point.

I know a few have. But some have done so simply out of ignorance, quite frankly.

Yeah, I paid MSRP, $46K after tax on my order. I couldn't get a discount through USAA like I usually do since it's a new model, and I just didn't care enough to go comparison shopping through different dealers. Salesman was some 25 year old kid; I'm sure he needs the money more than I do.

By not paying x-plan price you probably got him another 25 bucks, if that.

Man, I make a decent living, and I would have a real hard time writing off a couple grand just because I didn't feel like making a few phone calls... :)

Unless you are getting the LE everyone should be within a couple hundred bucks of invoice. Whether through xplan or negotiation.

My dealer told me xplan wasn't available another told me xplan price. I took 500 off of that told my dealer that was what the other dealer wanted for xplan since I had bought my 2011 and 2013 from that dealer they had no probleam beating that other dealers price by 400 dollars. That was even worth the time. I didn't want to break 35000 for a gt premium with 50th anniversary package and I was able to do just that. To me its more about deciding what you can and are willing to pay before going to the delear or calling and if you hit that target your satisfied and will avoid buyers remorse.

Pardon my ignorance, but can someone please explain to me HOW? I ordered mine while overseas (Exchange New Car Sales) and it is being delivered to a dealer at my next duty station in October. I'm not locked into any price at this point, I merely have the deposit down. Can someone help me out and offer some pointers on how to bring that price down?

Pretty much everyone is getting x-plan pricing by signing up for the Mustang Club of America for $50. It's at the dealer discretion whether or not they will accept x-plan on the new Mustangs, so most people ordering have looked for a dealer willing to accept it. Others have simply negotiated the price on their own and able to get close to, or sometimes even better than, x-plan pricing.

Most new car sales are $75-100 (Minny's). Salesmen typically only make money on Used stuff. You need to sell a lot of units to make a living.

My car is $2190.15 off of MSRP with X-Plan, that is money I am not willing to give to the dealer. I expect the dealer to make money, any deal that sounds to good to be true, is and is why I'm not driving a Sterling Grey TP/Recaro 2014 right now.

Having been on that side of the fence I don't believe in getting bottom dollar i.e. making a dealer go into holdback (on paper) because unless you a bringing in a check to buy it they are going to make all that money back with creative financing. This is where the expression 'that poor bastard is welded into that car" comes from. Upside down all day long. If you negotiate well below invoice and have a trade....LOL, or have a trade that has money owed on it

X-Plan is a great price point for Ford Dealers and buyers, true x-plan is a better deal just so they can't hit you with ridiculous 'fees' to print paper.

My local dealer is honoring D-Plan for me. I am buying mine from my brother who is a salesman there.
