Invoice. I could have tried for less at another dealer but my current dealer always treats me super good so I don't mind a little. This will be my 6th mustang from them, 2 escapes, 3 escorts and 1 focus. Never paid anything close to msrp ever with them on any car.

what if we ordered and put down a deposit already...is the haggle part over or can we still haggle price until we sign and get the car delivered?

I paid about $850 less than retail, all the dealers in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area wanted very close to retail if not retail. Next time I know to try the X-plan or something like that so I can get a better price. I find it strange yet not strange that for a retail order most people want retail. it's not like you can't sell my car if I back out. It's a GT Premium/PP/50 Years/security/rear sensing/Competition Orange that doesn't seem too tough to sell in my Opinion but of course I'm not in sales.

A loaded car in Comp Orange would be VERY hard to sell, since the markets don't match. Loaded cars are generally bought by older buyers, while Comp Orange is aimed at the 21-24 set.

BOOM!!! This is my mid life crisis car :clap2:

I so need some education on this stuff (not being a smart ass) I am truly out of touch with these things.

I'm saving about 10% under MSRP. So under invoice, but I don't really count in regards to your questions lol. Your best bet is X-Plan though if your not good at haggling.

Yes. I emailed three local dealers asking for their best deal at or under X-Plan. One offered me invoice, which is slightly below. Another offered me X-Plan and the third was still sending me automated voice mails three days later, telling me someone would get with me soon, LOL. (Corporate is not always better.)

The invoice offer was from the smaller dealer located closest to me, and I went with them. Nice folks.

Now that the reviews are sounding so great and I am regretting not pre-ordering. I think I am going to go place my order. I basically hate dealing with the LI, NY dealerships and was thinking of ordering with a out of state dealership.

1) Is everyone who is pre-ordering paying MSRP? Is there any hope of paying less? I usually pay $500 - $1000 over invoice for new cars.

2) Can anyone recommend a large dealership that is more likely to get its orders first?

Thanks in advance for any help.
I actually bought from a dealer in your area -- Smithtown Ford -- and paid MSRP, although I didn't try to haggle or anything.

I'm xplan now & actually did a tiny smudge better, but, before xplan the worst deal I ever got on a Ford was 200 over invoice.

Sometimes you find a dealership that is swinging for the long ball but my experience has been that if you try 3 dealerships 2 of them will have competitive pricing.

Absolutely no reason to pay sticker in 2014 on a non-limited production car.

Everyone should use this guy's dealership. $1500 under invoice means the dealer is actually losing money on the deal. :headbonk:
I didn't question it.
My boss setup the meet with the dealership GM.
I went there, sat down at his desk and he showed me dealer cost on what I was looking for. At the bottom was of the dealer invoice total he had "-$1,500"
I said "deal" shook his hand and work with his sales guy on the paperwork.

I was with him for a total of 5 minutes.
