I'm curious to see if anyone has painted their mufflers black so that they aren't as obvious when seen from behind. If anyone has any pictures, they would be appreciated. I'm thinking of doing it, but I'd like to see what it looks like first (I have an S-type catback, but any exhaust will do). Any thoughts or input are welcome. Thanks in advance for the help!

I have a black gibson...looks awesome. If I kept the stock mufflers I would've painted them black with some VHT paint.

Just make sure you use a really good paint. I've heard that some paints can leave a bad smell for some time.

Funny that you mention that-I was just thinking about that. I certainly don't want to have a nasty smell hanging around...

I painted my wifes Fusion mufflers black 7 years ago and I had no problems with a bad smell. Looks great and costs less than $10 for a high quality paint.

I did mine with Rustoleum's version of platsi-dip, mufflers and tips and it's still holding up fine and never had a smell.

We're actually currently working on Black Series Competition Series cat-back and axle-back exhausts for the 5.0L and a cat-back for the Ecoboost. Pricing will vary some with different vendors, but the price difference should be pretty minimal. Here are the part numbers from our site (Full list of 2015 systems is here):

2.3L cat-back: 19256
5.0L axle-back: 19255
5.0L cat-back: 19254

We'll have more information and some photos when they're closer to production.

Wish this was out when I ordered mine. What coating will you be using? I've had a few black setups that only lasted a few days.

I'm thinking about having mine cerakoted.

It's a ceramic coating; I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to disclose specifically about the coating. I'll check with the People Who Know Those Things—who are all (un)fortunately out of the office turning vulcanized rubber into smoke for the weekend—and get back Monday with more information if they allow that vault to be pried open.

I've got some work in the garage this weekend, but that's a story for another day...

I have a pile of parts waiting for the car, and the truck is halfway through paint. All that, and I'm stuck in Rio De Jenero... [emoji20]

Our Black Series cat-backs should be available from our dealers very soon. These are virtually the same as our already-available Competition cat-backs, except they come with 4.5" black-coated exhaust tips and black-coated 5" x 14" round mufflers. The system comes with the same great lifetime warranty on our solid, durable construction and also comes with the smooth, deep tone that characterizes all of our exhaust systems. The part numbers for the GT are 19254 (Cat-back) and 19255 (Axle-back). Let me know if you have any questions about it.

I was thinking of doing this myself. I'd leave the tips polished but paint the mufflers. My Magnaflow Streets will be delivered tomorrow, and I'm out of town. But I'll use the VHT header paint with ceramic if I do. It's held up for years on my sons headers.
