Anyone MANUAL with abt 800WHP with good street traction? What’s your setup? For dig & roll.

Dragy it both ways and get back to us with the results!

Assuming you have an MT-82 with standard gearing and 3.31

4300rpm 42mph 2nd 61mph 3rd
5300rpm 52mph 2nd 76mph 3rd
7400rpm 74mph 2nd 107mph 3rd

I would take the extra shift no doubt, 100hp between 4300 and 5300 on your chart
I wouldn't. Even if you're really quick on the shift, you're better to off to be in the higher gear. You'll get through the power deficit region very quickly and then the 2nd gear start guy has to shift. When he's shifting (about 0.75 sec) he makes zero power and it takes a moment for the engine to recover at the lower RPM. You'll pull back by. You also introduce driver error into the equation with both the shift and touching the limiter. The thing to do is 3rd gear, but push the roll speed a little higher.

On an auto, yes, go for the lower gear start. I don't think you'd want to with a manual, though. Just my 2c.

I wouldn't. 20mph is a long time to be in the wrong gear.

This is very similar to the C7 thread. Being one gear off is the difference between walking away very slowly or jumping out and leaving the other car.

Did I mis-read? Wasn't the roll speed at 60?

I believe he meant that I have 20 mph left in 2nd gear before I shift into 3rd because I wasn’t sure if I should be in 2nd or 3rd for a 60 roll

Gotcha. I also see those Tremec gears are significantly different. I'll take what I said back. You probably *do* want to start in 2nd, but you're going to be traction limited and probably have to pedal it.

I'd remove the rear anti-roll bar and get some sort of radial drag tire, probably on a 17" wheel. You want sidewall. Removing the rear bar will give you understeer in corners, but it will help with hook-up and that will be your biggest issue.

Why would I have to remove anything to fit 17s? I don’t even know what a roll bar is 😂 I’m going to look that up. My goal isn’t to dead hook if I can run in the 10s on 20s I’m happy 😃 or 60-130 is the 5’s 😂. I don’t plan on ever doing anything from a dig

Post up the 60-130 if you don't mind, when you get it.

You're right. It was silly of me to respond to you.

I know I have a lot of learning to do and as always I appreciate everyone’s input. I just didn’t know what a rear sway bar is I’m watching a video now about it. I’m gonna see what times I get on my current setup and I can probably do the 17 inch rims as you suggested next. After testing the car I highly doubt I’ll hook in 2nd gear at 60 with my E85 tune 😂 🤦‍♂️

I can definitely vouch for this comment
