I was changing the strut springs on my 23 Mach 1 to the factory handling package springs and found these yellow blocks in the springs on each side when I pulled the struts. One block in each spring. Were these supposed to be there or did the factory forget to remove them during assembly? Seems like they would keep the springs from compressing.

Jimmy Dean-

Bought the car on 23 May. Had 3674 miles on it, one owner according to Carfax. I imagine it's been driven like this since new.

Wanted a handling package car but couldn't find one, so bought this one and ordered all the HP parts. Changed wheels and tires and started with replacing the front strut springs/camber plates. Will see if I get any more surprises in the rear.

I can just picture the dude trading it in, "Wow, Mustangs can't handle for shit. I'm out."

And why were you changing your strut springs? Was because it sat to high, rode rough and thought it handled weird? Lol

Johnny-

No, I'm changing the base Mach 1 suspension to the handling pack suspension, ie: strut springs, camber plates, rear springs, and sway bar. Found the shipping blocks while changing the strut springs.

Sigh.. They come in bright yellow so people will notice them and remove them.

Some dealers really suck.

There are tags and stickers to tell dealer to remove them too. So no excuse. I wish I would have saved mine. Dealer I ordered from was great. I wanted NO dealer prep except removal of those shipping blocks. Hence, I didn't have a chance to grab them.
I kept all the stickers and hang tags that were on and in the car. There was some papers on the floor of the car too. One page was a copy of the broadcast sheet they use on the assembly line that had all the codes from my order sheet. That was cool.

They make the bumper guards for the Mopars bright yellow and those morons still can't figure out they're temporary.

Unfortunately, you are not the first to discover the blocks like that.

Glad to read they've been discovered and now removed.

Interesting, for which Mustang is this valid?
In Mach 1 supplement I have there are only shipping blocks on the front suspension mentioned (in the Towing section.) No rear suspension.

Apologies for any confusion. I should have clarified.

My attachment is from the '24, S650 checklist. The blocks were installed front and rear on some specs.
