I would get premium. As someone else mentioned above the factory ford leather isn't great so I had mine replaced with Katzkin.

I went from base to premium, with a Scat Pack Challenger in between. To me it's totally worth it. Every time I looked at the radio in my base car I had an 80s flashback. I also really like Sport+ mode and use the other modes from time to time.

Get base if all you want is the driving experience.

Get premium if creature comforts and technology is important to you.

OP, keep in mind that there’s a difference in 400a leather vs 401a leather. 400a is half-grain, 401a is full-grain. 401a also gets you leather knee pads, more soft touch elements in the cabin, better stitching throughout, and the digital gauge cluster.

My 16 GT 401a didn’t have the “premiere trim” or whatever it was called that gave the better leather and it was “OK”. For the 18+ Ford removed the option and made it standard on 401a Premium cars (I think 201a as well?), the leather in my 19 is significantly thicker and visually looks better than my 16 GT.

Bullshit. The leather is the same and the seats are awesome in the 400a package. Both are “leather trimmed”. I’d go for the 400a to save a few bucks. Nothing in 401a is that substantial. I don’t even look at the “stitching”. Digital dash is the only reason and for me I prefer good old fashioned analog gauges which never fail.

401A Equipment Group includes all 400A content plus the following features:

• 12" LCD Digital Instrument Cluster with MyColor®
• Heated Steering Wheel
• Premier Trim with Color Accent Group – Hand Stitched Center Console Lid, Wrapped Knee Bolsters with Accent Stitch and Shifter Boot, Premium Floor mats with Accent Stitch, Color-accented Leather-trimmed Seats, "Linked

I had a Premium 2012 GT, and now a base 2016 GT w/PP.

If I was ordering a new Mustang today, I'd get the Base PP GT with 301A package to get the Sync 3 and the better sound system. But Ford's pleather seats are crap, they wear out and look terrible, and the base seats are more comfortable for me. I hate the fake leather, and don't like sliding around in corners.

Wrong. Both are leather, yes, but it’s not the same type. The 401a of the 18+ Mustangs uses the full-grain leather of the “premier interior trim” option of the 15-17 models. You can visually see the difference in pictures.

Read through a previous discussion about it here: https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/opinion-on-b-o-system-and-401a-leather-on-2019.117674/page-3
Take note of the pictures on page 3 and the link in the last post which quotes the original order guide regarding the “premier trim” option from the 15 model year.

When I was test driving, I first got into a Premium PP1 and loved it. A few days later got into a base PP1, it completely changes the experience into something mediocre. Premium is well worth it in my opinion.

Huh I really love my base car. Sure the screen cluster with 2000 buttons is a bit weird in today's day and age. But I find for a base model it is very well equipped.

Then again I'm probably just some dumb bitch who doesn't know anything.

Adorable edit. You may want to add yourself to said “ignore list” considering your, ahem, “info” here.
Also, *cite.

Test drove 2 18's, one bare bones 6 speed and the other fully loaded premium A10. The cloth seats feel soooooooo much more comfy to me and I'm normally a leather guy. AC seats feel super gimmicky and the rest of the interior didn't impress me at all. Digital dash, while awesome to see, didn't feel like it belongs in a "drivers car". I ordered a 19 non-premium and only checked 2 boxes, PP1 and the Sync3 so it doesn't remind me of a rental.
