Dropped off my car to get it's Paxton 2200SL installed.. Anxiously waiting and counting down the hours.

Quick question.. Do I need to break it in? I know I need to get my tune revised.. But I mean after everything is good to go

How much power will I pushing aprx ~
My setup is Paxton 2200sl 3.6 pulley, BAP, NGK plugs, IDX injectors, airraid cai and a Vortech BOV, also got an OPG and CS installed for safe measures. Only other mod is a catback, eibach springs.

What should my next mods be? Street car.. Might track it prob not any drag racing. Don't know yet

Cheers

I agree longtubes to open up the exhaust side now. as it sits id guess mid 6xx. I dont believe there is a break in period on the unit. there might be something about changing the oil early the first time but im not sure.

If your gonna track it tires, clutch, axles. If only street use I say tires. I have 10k miles on my oem clutch since Paxton installed and do a lot of highway pulls not one issue. I do have the clutch and flywheel (McLeod flywheel and rxt)just waiting until the oem clutch grenades. I made 653 whp on pump with the 3.6 pulley with the cat deletes.

I think a lot depends on how the clutch was abused before the power upgrade.

First day of testing with my Whipple (12k on the car, but I am 2nd owner) and felt 4th gear after a granny shift start to feel "soft." I was completely shifted, foot off the clutch, pressed the gas and felt a quick rpm spike.

Since it is just a street car, I would recommend headers and tires. A lot of guys get away with the OEM clutch just doing rollers and what not.

I'm running a 2200 3.48 on E and will be running the stock clutch for a bit. I feel as long as you don't shock it and abuse it there should be no issues. I plan to do a bit of tourism in Mexico and while I'm planning on an upgrade soon I don't feel hurried.

I vaguely remember the manual saying something about changing out the first round of oil early in the Paxton, but other than that, I don't believe there is any break-in procedure.

If it's your only car I would advise having a clutch ready to go in just in case the stock one gives. I'm still on my stock clutch with no issues after being boosted for about 7k miles (30k miles total), but I've got another clutch/flywheel ready to go in just in case. I've also got stock axles and driveshaft and don't have any issues. Mine is a street car/daily driver. My opinion is that you'll be fine with stock axles on street tires on the street. Take it to the strip or put sticky tires on the back, then all bets are off for stock clutch and stock axles.

IIRC the first Paxton oil change is 2000 miles, regular 3000 mile intervals afterwards.

Just checked the Vortech/Paxton manual and it does say 3,000 miles at the beginning. I'm thinking that's for the oil-fed units since it says on the last page of the manual ("Final Check" page) under the "For internally lubricated V3 units only" section, "Initial supercharger fluid change must be performed at 2,500 miles. The supercharger fluid must be changed every 7,500 miles maximum thereafter."

Cool, I'm doing my initial change this week and was going to look through the manual to write down the next change interval. I'll probably do it every two oil changes since I change at 3K.
