Okay i know its hard but even with strap wrench would not move. Destroyed leather but got it off and threads full of RED loctite not blue. Guess i wanted the ball shift knob after all. Dealer is willing to take care of it, as it was Ford error and they are doing shifter recall. Had not heard of red being used on shift knob before. Its a 2019

If you get the shifter replaced under the FSA, you get a new knob. However, the advisory instructions do accommodate for those who have already replaced the knob. Good that the dealer will install your choice of knob when performing the shifter FSA.

I think they al used red (every GT350 year). I recently replaced the OEM leather one with a Ford Performance ball one on my 2018, and I tried everything to not damage the OEM one. Heat gun, strap wrench, microfiber towels, etc. in the end I had to get some pliers and put a ton of muscle into it and destroyed the knob. Why Ford used red loctite is beyond me.

When I replaced mine, Out of curiosity I attempted to unscrew mine by hand, it started to turn, kept going and it got easier by the turn. Mine had no trace of Loctite and I was able to unscrew mine by hand.

When they did my rear cylinder block plate replacement they forgot to use the locktite on my shifter knob and it got loose. I had them fix it on the next oil change.

Mine had a small amount of red locktite on it but I was able to remove it by hand. Guess there is no standard on how much they use.
The new knob I installed has no locktite on it.

Seem curious they replace the shifter, unless torquing it harms the gate assembly

How long did you drive it with the knob like that ?

The tranny had to come out to replace the updated rear cylinder block plate. Hence the shifter and knob had to be removed to drop out the tranny. I dove it perhaps a thousand miles or so. They were swamped with the warranty tranny issues on the Focus so I waited till they had the Shelby tech available to fix it. I suppose I could have just taken it all the way off and used the locktite myself, but I wanted a warranty record of it. It’s all tight now.

Dealer did the shifter recall and discovered the new shifter came with a new shift knob.

Mine must have gobs of red loctite as well, I already broke one strap wrench trying to get it off. I'm afraid I'm going to have to step up to a pipe wrench and just destroy the stupid thing.

Dealer had already done the shifter recall before I bought it. I had to totally destroy the knob to get it off.
