Could you please explain how you attached the mesh to the factory grill? The mesh you used looks fairly tough and hard to bend. Did you use an epoxy to attach?

Pretty sure I'm gonna go ahead and order the parts and do this myself...
???

Any pics or tips on how you cut, bent, and attached the mesh grill material to the factory grill?

If you don't wanna post it up you can pm me. I already ordered some factory grills to cut apart...lol

This is actually exactly what Nathanbrummer and i have been working on. Except with a more oem style plastic mesh

~$500 is a pretty fair price point given the cost of materials and the labor involved
Does the red badge remove easily without marring the grill?
I think straight black looks sharper, and spend plenty of time trying to debadge my cars and bikes.

I cut the grill and the grill material using a dremel and cutting wheels.

You want to align the grill material and secure it with zip ties.

You'll then run epoxy along the grill and the material.

Be sure to leave plenty of time to cure before installing.

CustomCarGrille's details everything in his youtube how to videos. It's very straightforward if you want to attempt this. He also carries everything you need to do the project.

On the flipside, for someone not handy or without necessary tools or time, I think Whitemare or whoever selling a finished version is a serious value. Personally, I think this style looks better than any grille made by any vendor so far, and it really should end up cheaper.

The badge was only part of a mockup.
Here it is without:

Nathanbrummer is finishing up that one this week.

I'll be finishing up another set using a slightly larger plastic mesh this week - the XXL diamond mesh:

In for pics of the larger mesh.. BTW, how much of the product did you have to buy in order to cover the entire grill opening, and have you completed the lower grill as well?

it has an engine!
Whitemare, your grill looks great. But i just cant justify more then 400-425 tops for a metal mesh grill. If you end up there, id be interested, if not best of luck. Ill be going with oy's or dusolds if that happpens.

well i work for ford aswell and it blows my mind that people are taking 200% for labor on cutting the original honeycomb.

Im in the process of doing my own and it should cost around $200-$250 for a finished top and bottom meshed grill.

paying $350 for someone to just cut the original honeycomb out is retarded to say the least.

btw what did you guys use to make the metal mesh stay, ive got epoxy but the metal seems to not have much integrity to it. ill have to think of something.

I don't think you're factoring in everything that it takes to make these grilles.
Upper grille 40 plus shipping
Lower grille 65 plus shipping
Mesh 60 plus shipping
Abs sheet 25 plus shipping
Dremel cutting wheel(s) 20
Zip ties 20
Mounting hardware 20
Adhesive 10
Sandpaper and block 10
In addition, you're looking at about 3-4 hours of labor. Realistically, since I was experimenting it took me 5-6 hours.

To make my grille that Oy posted earlier it costed me $320 upper and lower in just materials and shipping. This doesn't include labor. Sure, some of these costs can be brought down by buying in bulk, negotiating deals ect..., but this is what I paid. When you break down all the costs a 400-450 dollar grille set doesn't look that bad. In fact if the GTFO crew had posted this up a few weeks ago, before I started mine, I would have jumped on it. The problem with most the stuff out now is the mesh is so thin and flimsy that it looks very cheap in my opinion. This is something that they have found a way around with their sourced materials.
I just wanted to post this to give a realistic cost of what a project like this can cost. Little runs to Home Depot add up fast on diy projects.
Hope this helps.
