I'm pretty new to the stang world but why would 2015 appreciate more than 2016? I mean apart from special editions like the 50th anniversary why would any 2015 GT350 demand higher premium vs the latest 2016 MY?
Aren't they the same car?

Essentially yes - except for the VIN, Chassis No. and included car cover. However, from a collectibility standpoint, for 2015 there were only 50 Techs, 50 Tracks and 37 Rs to celebtrate the Mustang's 50th Anniversary.

I think in about 5 years - once people start to accept the fact that the EPA and Obama have ensured that there will soon be no more V8s because of the high CAFE standards for 2025 (unless Congress does something soon) - no-miles 2015 GT350s will easily top $200K. And 20 years from now, when the 2015s are classics in the collector car world, they'll easily be $300-400K.

Yeah. I have a 2015 Track Pack. I love driving the car, but I have less than 700 miles on mine. I wanted a Tech Pack initially, but I'm glad I was able to get a track pack. The tech pack has nice stuff in it, but I had a 2014 GT500 with every option. It was a nice car, but it had SYNC gen 1 and felt dated against my newer Ford and truly ancient against SYNC 3. I don't know... Tech is amazing, but when it gets old, it gets frustrating. My nav on the GT500 started to studder, it was slow to start the Sat radio from time to time, etc...

I'd like to revisit this thread in 20 years.

You have to remember that the 2015 GT350 cars came with a lot of miles on them from the factory due to numerous changes during the assembly process which meant a lot of back and forth between FR and some of the assembly locations.

I have seen a brand new GT350 delivered with more than 140 miles from the factory.

My 2015 was delivered with just short of 30 miles and have seen numerous other 2015 GT350's delivered with 35 miles and more so the mileage for the car in question is within an acceptable range.

;)

2015 R, No. 15 of 37, had 38 miles on the clock when it was dropped off by enclosed trailer at my house. Now has 55.

To your point I would suggest that of the 137 2015 GT350 cars produced at least 70% of these cars were VIP allocations with 100% of the R models going to the Ford family/executives along with long time and elite Ford purchasers being allocated these rare cars.

Of the 137 cars that were built for the 2015MY I would suggest that only ~40 cars or so were awarded to various Ford dealers on a lottery system and eligilble for sale on the open market at this point in time.

That being the case being able to purchase one of these 2015 GT350's on the open market is not very easy to do.

When was the last time that anyone of us saw a 2015 GT350R for sale on the open market?

They may be out there but I have not seen one and they are unicorns to the most degree and so are the Track Pack and Tech Pack cars.

Bid goes on at $95K on this car. Its a bit tough to infer from just watching on TV, but it seems the Portland auction doesn't command the higher premiums for muscle cars. In addition, the variety of cars is quite interesting. Lots of VW Bugs and old school trucks/SUVs which makes complete sense.
