Yeah,..........active exhaust, not for me.
Even my 2016 Ram Sport 4X4 regular cab is loud. :headbang:

but am i the only one that doesnt like that all the new muscle cars are having options for exhaust notes.
Yes, you're the only one.

Having a quiet muscle car I agree is bad (eg stock Mustang exhaust). But having the option is a win/win.

I like the option, but just because something is loud, doesn't make it good. I am as much of a lover of a good exhaust note as anyone. But loud doesn't always translate to that. Just like old music doesn't mean classic:D

I have dickheads driving up my street with straight pipes on their "mudding" trucks. Man is it loud. Man does it sound like shit.

Having the active exhaust option is a great thing, but some dicks just like waking up the neighbours. :headbonk:

this might sound weird... but am i the only one that doesnt like that all the new muscle cars are having options for exhaust notes.. (quiet, sport, track, etc..)
Actually, I think it's a good thing if you can switch between one 'quiet' mode and one mode that has a little more 'voice'. Nothing good can come out of always running loud through residential neighborhoods.

.. a loud muscle car exhaust was one of those things that was a privelage to have and one of the main things that sets our cars apart from just average performance car/sports car/muscle car.
Sorry, but if you're secure in your own knowledge that you have a muscle car (or perhaps these days, a muscular sports/sporty car), there isn't any good reason to go overboard with the loudness. The opinion of any bystander who needs your car to be unusually loud before he recognizes it as being at all special . . . isn't worth chasing.

Who??? Anyone in the neighbourhood ya drive thru. :D

Present company excluded.
The ladies in my neighbor all bitch to their husbands who come over and high five me while drinking my beer :). There is a gt3, z06, hellcat, 800whp subby, ctsv, 51 ford and a gtr on my street. Of all of them I make the kids cover their ears and wake up the babies. Luckily I only drive it a couple times a week and never before 8am. Except cars and coffee, all bets are off then.

MyLilPony ... if thats your black gt in your profile pic.. that thing is cleaaaannnn . props
Yes it is! Thanks! Just put on some new wheels from MRR, thing looks sick now! Check out my insta for more pics or my build thread :)

make em all loud! who wants to have a gt350 fly by and not hear it :)
All I want when a GT350 goes past is to hear its distinctive exhaust note. I do not want my ears to be in pain (or bleed).

"Loud" for the sake of being loud impresses people who don't know much about cars because you don't have to know very much to tell when something is loud.

If my car had switchable exhaust, then I wouldn't have had to compromise somewhere in the middle. The switch would have it a touch quieter, and also a touch louder.

I went through about 4 combos before I stopped where I am. Some guys have lost count...

I enjoy hearing other guys' loud Mustangs. Just wouldn't want that for my DD.

Yeah, you're the only one - especially considering this idea is almost 50 years old.

Ask your Grampa about a Pontiac GTO. For model year 1970, early models (built between November '69 and January '70, IIRC) could be equipped with option V.O.E. for Vacuum Operated Exhaust.

At about 15 seconds into the commercial, the driver pulls a handle labelled "Exhaust". This would send vacuum to a control pod on either muffler turning the dual-chamber mufflers into a straight-through design.

Great idea in theory, poor idea in practice. GM used basic steel and aluminum for muffler construction and the VOE setup would rust and freeze and stop working and hence, was removed from the options list by December, 1968. (They do however reproduce these mufflers today using stainless steel and anti-corrosive metals)

:thumbsup:Sometimes stealth is the more gangster way to go.
Some owners drive as fast as they can without risking hurting others. Like a taxi driver in downtown Sao Paulo headed to see his first son born at hospital.
Now if you like attracting little boys, yeah go loud.

Seriously, switchable is the way to go. Everyone gets what they want!

Too bad its not post cat dumps...

And the same basic idea has been resurrected a few times in the meantime. There can't be many variations on the theme.

This was on the 20AE Maxima that's in my sig. Flow enters on the right (and follows the blue arrows), then for quiet mode follows the yellow path through another set of small holes and out only one of the two exit pipes when the valve is closed. "Backpressure" from high exhaust flow volume was supposed to open the valve to the lower restriction path to the other exit pipe (red arrows). I've got the valve jammed partially open with a small piece of stone floor tile for illustration purposes.

In that particular muffler, the spring holding the valve closed was stiff enough that I'm not even sure the valve ever opened, short of (maybe) something like WOT at 6000 rpm.

Sounds like jealous angst.

Choice is good. Loud sucks on long trips.
Quite a few choices that are loud only when heavy on the throttle, silent while cruising.

A lot of guys on Harley's think the same thing. Straight pipes for the "loud pipes save lives" crowd.
