Am I the only one who hyper fixates on random noises on their car?

I’m just curious, I’m starting to think I have some sort of autism or something.

I get so hyper fixated on every little clunk/rattle and I get anxiety constantly thinking something is wrong and/or something is going to get worse and get more expensive, or something break whilst driving and I really don’t know how to get over it.

does anyone else do this? I know it’s just a mustang, and I drive the piss out of the thing but sometimes I feel like something is always wrong.

I hear a clunk intermittently and think my car is going to explode into a million pieces and/or cost a million dollars to fix. I don’t know why I have anxiety over something so stupid but it’s hard to sleep at night sometimes thinking something is constantly wrong.

I feel like I create problems in my head. Does anyone else do this? I need help. 😔

Easy fix as you only fear what you don’t understand. Start wrenching on your car and those thoughts will vanish.
I do most of the work myself.
I guess from previous cars I’ve owned (non sports cars) I’m used to stuff just lasting.

I’ve replaced damn near every suspension part on my car already in the 57k miles it has. I just don’t know what expectations I had, maybe people just don’t talk about them. Or maybe I’ve had bad luck.

respectfully disagree…once you start wrenching, you start noticing things 😂

LOL I tore my dash twice on a brand new car to find a minor rattle on certain roads. I still haven't found it but I am still looking. :like:

I sadly am the same way. Anything changes, I immediately start trying to figure out why...

Did you replace suspension parts because there was an issue or because you thought you heard an issue? Lol

Hypochondria
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), published by the American Psychiatric Association, no longer includes hypochondriasis — also called hypochondria — as a diagnosis. Instead, people previously diagnosed with hypochondriasis may be diagnosed as having illness anxiety disorder, in which the focus of the fear and worry is on uncomfortable or unusual physical sensations being an indication of a serious medical condition.

Same thing only with cars, LOL.... I try but have the same issues. I think it comes from overemphasis on something (like cars). I m getting less (sometimes) when compared to others but still over the top for a normal person. Don t make an idol out of your car. Enjoy it, take care of it and realize it s only a temporary item.

Yes, and the sounds weren't just in my head. Ford did an awful job at mitigating unwanted cabin noise. Soon, it will be better.
