Well?, If Money is not your issue then buy it and don't look back BUT: If it is, then absolutely no for me for the car has been trashed at the track and maintained as a track car which means dinged up, track damaged ETC. The Engine at some point will grenade and cost another $25k or so to build But: If Money isn't an issue, go on for your really working yourself up hard over it. Good Luck

There is no substitute for a "real race car". A street car on track is just that, a street car on track, while competent, the next level is a car prepped and set up exclusively for track use. You have to choose what is more important, but if you really want to go to the track, get the race car, sell (or keep also) the HE.

Earlier this year I bought a very well sorted/ upgraded Boss 302S for $65k. It also included lots of spares, 4 sets of wheels, etc. The 302S is one generation before the 350S.

For reference, I also have a highly upgraded 350R that’s a dedicated track car and a Porsche 944/ LS3 dedicated track car, and I hardly use either one now. I love the 302S, there’s no substitute for a factory built racecar.

100k for a 350S sounds like a reasonable deal. You’ll never go back to a converted street car.

Wasn't there also a Boss 302R? I swear I saw one at Watkins the last time I was there...

I ended up passing on the FP350S but it is still available. The sellers are great people that have a lot of track time that have just moved on to bigger/badder cars.

For anyone interested I am happy to share the contact info for the sellers via PM.

I decided to just use a regular Mustang GT for track time. I put the FP track handling kit on it (it's about equivalent to a regular GT350 in stiffness). If you were doing track only something quite a bit stiffer might be better, but IMO it's a good compromise for excellent streetability with acceptable body control. I also added transmission and rear diff coolers and a roll bar.

Yes it's not as fast as some other stuff might be, but it's a lot cheaper and I have more money for track days. Consumables are cheaper too.

Something to think about. I have less than $30k in it. The older Coyote has a lower rev limit, but I expect my time between engine refreshes will be a lot longer as well.

Yes, the Boss R is rare and faster then the Boss S. It was meant to race in specific series. Aero was restricted but..... The trans in the car was unreal.

I had an FR500C (Minus the 5.0 cammer) and miss that car every day at the track. There is a certain amount of carefree driving that comes with the dedicated track car. My R is about as fast as that car and I ran down a Boss S in my last event. While driver is a huge factor the 350 platform is just that good. The 350 FPS race platform is a little heavy according to one owner who competes with it but is gorgeous. If I could afford it I would have a car built by KOHR (my last car) or Capaldi racing. For now I will track the R and make changes that can be undone

This is exactly my thinking. Thus far, I’ve been super happy with the base 350 plus mods. It’s a joy to drive.
