All seasons or winter tires?

A friend of mine has a C6 ZO6 with Super Sports he runs in the winter, has never had a problem. I'll be putting super sports on my car this week. As long as you keep your foot off the peddle, you'll be fine.

i just put a set of those ADVANs on last weekend. ive heard great reviews on them. havent gotten a chance to drive on them much. i worked from home the last 2 days due to the snow, LOL

They're $600 for a full set, so that's why I'm enticed to buy them. Are they good for traction in dry/wet/warm/cold? I really want to buy them over the A/S 3, the Michelin is literally double.

i have no clue yet. ive only driven from the tire shop to my home so far. tomorrow will be my first commute with them.

tirerack has not tested it in winter yet.

Ok not to hijack a thread but in same boat. Backing out of garage and hitting garage door button while braked and watching car slide down to bottom of drive was not good. And a light dusting of snow.

So running EB PP and looking at either Blizzack LM80 on 18" wheels from tirerack or just 19 tires. Leaning towards the rim and tires it would be a tirerack 18x8 sport edition A8 rim ..

So the big question is.. TPMS.. do I get those or skip it knowing the alarm will always be lit. Would that cause issues? I assume alarm would vanish once summers are put on.
What did you guys do?

My wife's Dart GT came with them. They are noisey on the Dart. Her winter tires are quiter.

I'd normally say stick with a good summer for Florida all year round. The dry grip of the Pilot Super Sport is awesome and it is fantastic in the rain as well. If you make semi-regular trips up north for the winter, maybe look at an all-season. As mentioned earlier in the thread, if you're ok with only one set of tires and you're not using them for competition (autocross, track days) of any kind, the Pilot A/S 3 is a fantastic tire.

I don't really care about how it does in ice or snow. Just how it performs with regards to grip and traction in dry warm wet and cold

Based on what I know now I would skip and not give it a second thought - unless you want the piece of mind.

When I bought my winter wheels tpms sensors were extremely hard to come by. So I went without, fully expecting to be beeped at every so often and a light on the dash.

Well to my surprise it has been extremely unobtrusive. I got an initial warning about 30 minutes after first drive, okayed out of it and I have maybe received the warning 2 or so more times in my month and a half of driving. And no light at all.

I have those exact wheels -- 18x8 Sport Edition A8 with the Michelin XIce tires. No TPMS; I've gotten used to it now, just have to hit "OK"" every time I start the car. Don't even notice it at this point.
