Has anyone had an upholstery shop add alcantara accents to there steering wheel? There are a few seems in the top where maybe the leather can be swapped for alcantara. Want to keep the heated steering wheel and I don’t think aftermarket wheels have that option.

IMHO Alcantara is NOT a good choice for steering wheels. Does not cope well with oil from hands.
I agree with that ^^^ 100%.

Alcantara on steering wheels is high maintenance due to the oils in your hands, dirty hands and the constant pressure on the material (flattens fibers).

Don't get me wrong, it looks great - even on seats or headliners, but the steering wheel is just a high maintenance area for the material.

Probably explains why there's so many GT350 steering wheels that pop up for sale across the forum.

I bought the GT350 wheel from Steeda. It has migrated across several Mustangs and still looks brand new. Not hard to keep one's hands clean. The mother superior made sure of that ....... 🙄

Just get a can of this and steer away. Simple, easy to use, and only takes a few minutes.

I have the Alcantara on my steering wheel and I have not seen an issue. Granted I have a clean desk job so I am not at risk of getting dirt/grease on the steering wheel. My hands do not normally sit on the Alcantara portion of the wheel though. They usually sit just below when cruising and I raise them up when actively steering so the sweat issue does not seem to be a problem form me.
