Well Nick lets his dogs crawl all over the inside of his cars...so I don't really take anything he says about interior durability as gospel.A good video....
It's like every other material in a car - it has specific needs and rules. Would you put windex on your paint? No, you wouldn't.
I wash my hands before I drive the car but don't wear gloves and my wheel stayed nice - 6k miles and it looked like it could use a cleaning - you could clearly see where I usually keep my hands, as the pile (if that's what you call it) seemed shorter and less-soft. I cleaning with this cleaner and it looked new again.

As for seats - don't get in the car with your grease-monkey garage pants and there's no issue. A regular cleaning makes it look new. I don't have many miles on the seats in my R but I've had other cars with this seat material for over 100k miles and they looked new after a quick wipe down.
